chrizbie,

Elons shenanigans has to be worse than spez surely

chrizbie,

I felt the same about android flagships, now it barely matters which one you buy almost all of them surpassed basic needs and expectations years ago

chrizbie,

True, I have a thin pair of tight wool thermal pants that work a treat in winter

chrizbie,

Well the truth is I recently started a job at a high school and the female students mostly wear skirts, of them about half of them wear dark stockings and I just ¯_ (ツ) _/¯ I dunno I just wondered what they do but looking through the comments it totally makes sense that they’d add a layer of comfort particularly in colder months, when I realized I also wear a tight pair of thermal pants sometimes then it became clearer as well

Not that anyone has to justify wearing what they wear I was just slightly curious is all

chrizbie,

I suppose also, there was likely a time before modern textiles when wearing a skirt that was durable enough for every day use could have been pretty uncomfortable

chrizbie,

There we go. That’s the answer lol

chrizbie,

I heard an american the other day talking about large noodles being used as straws, I don’t know if this was pasta or whatever but I thought that was insteresting

chrizbie,

I know it’s not exactly what you’re asking but when faced with the same scenario my wife insisted on getting a dyson stick vacuum and even though I wanted a robot I have to say the dyson turned out to be a great choice, it’s compact and convenient enough that it gets used daily and if you want to spot clean something it’s a sinch, I haven’t used a robovac so I can’t really compare it but it’s hard to imagine that it would perform as well, its worth mentioning that the motor is fairly powerful, it’s easy to clean after each use and it stacks away nicely in the cupboard

YSK: you can setup pihole on any old rooted android (5.0+) device (lemmy.nz)

I just discovered this and it works fantastically on any old / unused android device you might have lying around, I was shocked at how easy it was, all the instructions are there, once you have it running all you need to do is set your router DNS settings to your pihole IP address and presto! Ads and trackers are gone!...

chrizbie,

Good point, I’ll have to look into that

chrizbie,

I removed the battery but now I can’t get the fucker to turn on lol

chrizbie,

I think I might have broken something, even when I clip the battery back in I get nothing 😟

chrizbie,

I haven’t seen any notable issues yet, a lot of people use a wireless pi zero to do the same thing so as long as you aren’t running a state of the art gaming rig (which i’m not) I think it’ll be fine

chrizbie,

I looked a little closer at the battery connectors and when pulling the battery out I must have yanked the little wires out of the clip just ever so slightly (I could see a little bit of them reflecting on one side) I carefully pushed them back in and avast! There is life again! Thank you kind stranger!

chrizbie,

Got it up and running now! Thanks mate

chrizbie,

I hear you, but I’m pretty happy with how this is working out, the advantage here is that it blocks ads and trackers for the whole network so it works on my wife’s devices without her having to do anything (which she wouldn’t anyway)

chrizbie,

Can I ask what kind of setup you have there? In terms of software etc…

chrizbie,

Oh I see well I could say I’m an average Joe lol

chrizbie,

Probably worth it to remove ads and trackers thogh

chrizbie,

Try f-droid basic, it lets you update automatically
