So Niantic have announced that you can now recycle Apex boosts, but it'd be REALLY great if you could recycle the crappy fireworks, beacons and so on AS WELL, as they're a lot less useful than the boosts (except maybe the battle beacons, if folks in your area are into that kind of thing).

Just found - by chance - a reference to an elusive ancestor who I’d always seen referred to as Edward JOHN or Edward JONES. In this source, he’s “Edward Thomas, otherwise Jones”. 🤯

Things I learned today: it's a really good idea to check that you're developing on the right versions of things.

Otherwise you try to deploy something new and shiny to an ageing production server only to find out it only handles PHP 7.3 and the fancy library you've been using ... doesn't.

As of yesterday, all e-mails that come from non-UFR addresses are marked [EXTERN] in the subject line. Not only does it clutter up one’s field of view, but I wonder what practical purpose it actually serves. (Could be an anti-phishing ploy, I guess.)

For now, I am trying to allay my annoyance at it by imagining it being said in a Dalek voice. 🤭🤪

Had a stressful and unpleasant first few hours of the day today, BUT then two fantastic things happened:

1. I managed to snap this puddle reflection shot at Aberystwyth station just before we left.
2. We actually got through to Birmingham on the train more or less as planned, before the line was flooded in Mid Wales.

Yesterday evening, I was cutting an avocado, and my knife glanced off the pit and went straight into my finger.

I immediately grabbed the cloth I keep there and wrapped it tight around my finger, as I live alone, I really can't afford to faint with blood spraying from my hand.

Then i called a close friend, and an ambulance, the ambulance brought me to a hospital and they stitched my deep cut shut.

Finally followed through on my plan on going #swimming in the morning. And I reached a milestone in regards to my life long #aquaphobia; I actually swam in an area I couldn't stand in without panicking or needing to hold on to something.

Granted, I stayed close to the edge in case I did panic, but it wasn't needed.
