But really, Iād love to see more representation that isnāt centered around our bodies.
Thatās why Iāve always been vocal about my identity in tech. Many people either donāt know we even exist or have racist notions that weāre somehow not āsmartā enough for this field.
The sad thing is a lot of PI kids end up believing this too.
To give you an idea of the Asian American anger at David Chang for being an asshole who wanted to enforce trademarks on āchilli crunchā, I was at my friendās home in LA looking at his Asian cookbooks when he said, āyou wanna see some garbage?ā Then he pulled out the Momofuku cookbook and we both laughed and laughed
grandpas and grandmas! Walking around, talking to friends, playing Chinese opera loudly

Just some simple things I miss about real cities. San Francisco feels like a very weird, hollowed out city on many fronts. I think if I see a bunch of kids at once in SF Iāll be like āwowā. Outside of certain SF neighborhoods (Chinatown, Mission, TL), the city just feels very homogenous and bland to me :/
I was wondering why I kept seeing all these Pacific Islander events coming up and realizedā¦ itās #AAPI month lol.
I normally donāt like this month because I never felt represented despite the āPIā part. But lately, Iāve noticed more spaces where they are intentionally including us. Thatās pretty cool.
Itās also okay to say just say āAsian/Asian Americanā when youāre referring to those groups. I get annoyed when Pacific Islanders are dragged into these conversations that are not for us.
An example: The model minority myth which is not a common experience for us.
@skinnylatte Sadly, this is a product of our crappy public transit infrastructure. Many Americans were raised (including myself) to believe that driving means being independent.
In reality, drivers are dependent on car insurance, gas prices, and traffic congestion. :/
sometimes i really want to support 'emerging POC chefs in the bay area' but then they say things like 'āhigh-vibrational foods', 'alkaline foods' etc
(Growing up in the tropics, we never had anything frozen. Itās more of a cultural bias from lack of exposure)
Yoshinoya is also what I spent all my pocket money on as a teenager, so it also makes me feel nostalgic even tho I can make better gyudon from scratch now
