@Yumquotient I like the form factor and screen, for sure. The lack of USB ports is the biggest issue (and need for a keyboard), but it's very lightweight. I think this could be a good solution for a SOTA/field activation platform, IMHO.

What is your oldest radio you regularly use? How/when did you get it?

I’ll go first: Alinco DJ-C5 I use to monitor local repeaters when I’m cooking dinner. It will only hit one or two from the kitchen, but gives me a good idea of activity when I’m away from my shack. I have the pair of them my dad bought brand new in 1999. When went on a ski trip together in Utah and tried to use them on the mountain, too windy to hear them, and too cold to try for long, but still a good memory

@km5ge My normal handheld I use nowadays is a Realistic HTX-202... sometime from the 1990's. Use it to hit the ISS, too. I have a Kenwood TS-520 and Kenwood TS-830S which are very nice HF rigs that I use fairly regularly (use the 830S for Field Day this year), they were build in the early 80's. One of my operating positions has a restored Kenwood TR-7400, which has incredible audio quality; actually have a couple of those, and as long as you can get a tone card for repeater, great!

@km5ge All of those acquired in the last 9 years, the HTX-202 is new to me (a year or so ago). Mind you, I have plenty of non-vintage gear. Actually, the HF radio I have enjoyed most this summer is the Kenwood TenTec Omni-D.. audio is awesome! That's a 1978 rig. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2i7aVWMvR4s

Hmm, I have learned that supporting a local marathon with ham radio on a bicycle will really require a bicycle trailer, as well (due to need to use a high power radio and power to reach the repeater they are using). So, probably not happening for me. (that could be fixed of course by a person in the right place to relay traffic, or a portable repeater, but don't think they have the resources required). Will consider a "radio trailer" as a future project. #hamradio
