Am I remembering correctly that the film kind of lost track of it's own premise in the final act? Like, the writers forgot how the pod people work?

okay so, you know how i talked about how congress was hearing testimony from people inside DoD claiming there was a ufo crash retrieval program? well, now there is talk that they have been shown video of an alien being interrogated and - stay with me - they were really shaken up by it

but - wait for it - from the descriptions and mentions of the name 'victor' it seems like the video they're talking about is from a 90s tv special called Area 51: The Alien Interview featuring - wait for it - this puppet
