It's been around a week since I switched to Linux Mint as my main OS and here are a few thoughts...

If you have a PS5 and like to play remotely from your PC, Chiaki is the app for you. A little wonky to configure, but so far works great.

So far the majority of software that I used with Windows has a Linux equivalent. If it doesn't, I've had to find workarounds.

Haven't had ANY driver problems at all.

So far there haven't been any big issues and it's been pretty painless.

@oz It depends on what their needs are.

For me, 80% of what I do is through my browser. The other 20% is live streaming, chat apps, and remote play on my PS5.

If most of what they do is surf the net and check email, then switching to Linux will be a breeze.

If they need more, then finding equivalent software would be the next hurdle.

Obviously there will be a learning curve, but that's true with most new things that you learn.

I used Ubuntu long ago and found Mint to be more friendly.

For anyone that cares I finished Assassins Creed Mirage last night.

It was "meh".

Short, glitchy in parts, and didn't really add much to the lore. I'm glad I only paid $25 for it.

Not bad. Just not very exciting either.

Trying to decide if I want continue to pay the $130 for the two years of Proton VPN service.

Then I remembered that Google is my ISP.

So yeah, maybe I WILL renew.

Where I live the ISP's have agreed to not compete with each other in major ways. Before Google Fiber came into town you could either have Comcast as your ISP (a cable tv business) or AT&T.

Comcast would give you a good rate on the internet, but wanted you to bundle it with cable services.

AT&T had inconsistent speeds and horrible customer service.

Then Google Fiber came with better speed for less $$$.

I jumped on it and haven't regretted it yet.

@That_One_Guy Trust me, if there was a better solution, I'd take it.

Funny thing is, the way I reacted to it was to begin to quit most of the google services I was using. Now I only use Gmail for junk email (Proton for main) and the Terra byte of Google Drive they gave me along with my ISP. That's it.

As soon as a better ISP comes along, I'll jump ship. Sadly that hasn't happened yet.

@ken_fallon @jstatepost @adamconover @hpr It's not that complicated really.

First find a PeerTube instance that you like. A good way to do that is to start with one that you know, and look in their "about" section and then under "Network" to see the instances that the instance you know trusts. Look through those.

Once you've found one that you like, register and then you copy your YouTube videos over to PeerTube using "Publish" and then "Import with URL".

That's pretty much it.

@ken_fallon @jstatepost @adamconover @hpr Also, IF you can, once you've picked an instance and all of your videos are uploaded and you've been using it for a month or two without any issues, consider tossing your host a few $$$ to help with costs. It doesn't have to be a lot. Every dollar helps. $20 can go a long way on PeerTube.
