In November 2022 I bought an #ASUS BR1100 netbook on closeout at #MicroCenter and the #CMOS battery has died. So I went out to get a replacement and then opened up the computer.

For some reason, the battery was in a little opaque shrinkwrap package glued below the motherboard. So I cut open the edges and -- of all the #cursed things on the planet -- the battery is SOLDERED to the connection wires. Who the fuck does this?? (Rhetorical question, because obviously ASUS does this.) #smdh

One setting/feature I wish was in #GNOME Files (formerly Nautilus) is the ability to exclude removable drives from the recently-used files list. "Recents" is handy and I'd like to leave it on, but what's the point of listing thumb drives that aren't even in the system?

(Same could be said of many network file shares, but that should be a separate setting. Maybe have a list of paths and addresses to ignore, like /media or 10.10.10.10:/ )

Does anyone else who lives in #DarkMode have trouble with their eyes shying away from video calls when there are a bunch of people with white backgrounds? I keep having this thing where half the people in my calls have these stark white virtual rooms, and my eyes just keep finding phantom hairs and reasons for me to take my glasses off when that's not the way I am off these calls.

It's even worse when there are more than six people on, and a lot of head movement.
