I saw an article that says Google #Bard may soon come to the Pixel phone. So, I asked Bard about it and it's apparently trying to learn how humans spin information.

In conclusion: I can and cannot get Bard on my Pixel phone now because the Google Assistant is not Bard but is Bard.

My other conclusion: They are running this on quantum computers so things can be both there and not there.

Here's my conversation:

Q: When can I use you on my Pixel phone?

A: You can use me on your Pixel phone right now. I am available to answer your questions, generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and follow your instructions. To use me, just say "Hey Google" or press and hold the power button. I will be happy to help you with whatever you need.

Q: I thought when I say "Hey Google" I get the Google Assistant, not Bard.

A: You are correct. When you say "Hey Google," you are currently getting the Google Assistant. Bard is still under development and is not yet available to the public.

Q: Then why did you just tell me I can use you on a Pixel phone by saying, "Hey Google" when you also just told me I won't get you, I'll get the Google Assistant?

A: I apologize for the confusion. I am still under development and learning how to communicate effectively. When I said that you can use me on a Pixel phone by saying "Hey Google," I meant that you can use the Google Assistant, which is powered by Bard.

Figuring that #Twitter will someday soon be hacked because Musk fired so many technical staff, I want to change my email address there to a throwaway email. But, for over a week, the ability to change the email address is broken.

I don't even get to enter the new email address. I just re-enter my password and I expect an email replacement prompt, but instead I get an error.

Am I the only one who can't change their email address associated with a Twitter account?

Any way to see posts from an instance I don't have an account on? Or at least, a way to find people on that instance to follow? I have a few instances that I'm interested in, but am a little overwhelmed, and can't figure out where/how to start. Any advice welcome.

Yes, you can see the local posts for a Mastodon server with a URL such as (change the domain name): https://infosec.exchange/public/local

Some servers turn this off, but most allow it.

You can see some of the user profiles with this URL (again change the domain name):

https://infosec.exchange/directory

You can select the radio button to only see the local profiles that are active or new (at least some). People can choose not to be discoverable and they will not appear.

I can't get any images to work and on #mastodon and I'm on #Firefox browser desk top can anyone help? The Safari fix does not help me. Otherwise I will stop using Mastodon because it's been over a month and it's just useless to be on here in this state.

@olaskoolkitchen I use Firefox desktop for Mastodon and haven't ever had any issues relating to images.

Do you use any extensions, like noscript?

You mention the Safari fix. Does this mean you are on a Mac and Safari is having the same issue?

To see if there may be an issue with your accessing the CDN for musician.social, if you go to another Mastodon instance and look at the Federated timeline, are you also not seeing images? or is it just at musician.social? You can check using this: https://hear-me.social/public where you should be able to view images.

You can try starting Firefox in safe mode: https://www.wikihow.com/Start-Firefox-in-Safe-Mode . If this works, then it might mean an issue with an Extension or your Firefox profile (which you can reset)

@olaskoolkitchen You can try turning off adblock plus on musician.social to see if it's the culprit.

If you try this in a separate tab, do you see the image?

It's a direct link to an image in the musician.social CDN. If you can't see if, you may get an error message that might help explain the problem. If you can see it, then it's a clue that you can fetch the images, but they aren't rendering in the Mastodon app. Then it might suggest a next step.

You can also try logging out of musician.social and then using this link to see if you can see the images. https://musician.social/public . This can provide more clues.

@olaskoolkitchen Do you see an error message? Instead of an image, what do you see? Do you see anything like a red "X" or is just no images?

Also, you can try clearing your browser cache. Settings->Privacy & Security. Then under "Cookies and Site Data" click "Clear Data..." Then only check "Cached Web Content" (don't click cookies, you don't need to clear them), and then click "Clear". Sometimes these issues are caused by Cache issues.

If you're thinking about using #bluesky, be aware that their terms of service say that EVERYTHING you post instantly belongs to them. Even if you don't use their app. Anything that goes through their network belongs to them.

They should call it Redsky because it's a deep fake that attempts to look like a nice social platform.

They are trying to package it like some better than Twitter thing but it is exactly the same as Twitter. It's for their profit. They will sell your brain to anyone who offers them money for it, be it corporations or political groups.

I will not go anywhere near it.

My words are worthless. But, if I expect to join #bluesky to see analysis from attorneys, journalists, experts, and postings from artisans, what can I expect when these people avoid posting to Bluesky because their postings are worth something and they rightfully won't give their intellectual property away for free to Bluesky? They won't post. I lose their contributions. Interactions are not very rich.

So, who is left to post? All the trolls, people who pull information from their butts, political operatives, and scammers.

Given the TOS, I think there will be limited value in Bluesky postings. Actually, negative value. So, Bluesky is not anything I want to use.

Their taking claim to already copyrighted material is not an important legal issue for me and has no bearing in my decision to avoid them..
