I've just started learning #webComponents and oh my days there seems to be a lot of ways to boilerplate this. Should I just use #Lit? It looks like I'd need a bundler which seems overkill for my tiny #11ty site.

Also, are there any good courses around?

I think I've just discovered the cause of my regular Saturday headache. It's almost as if humans weren't meant to be hyper-stressed 5 days a week! πŸ˜–

I got carried away last night after reading @bramus post on scroll direction detection using #CSS #scrollDrivenAnimations. It turns out you can control #pixelArt sprites in 8 directions! With zero #JS!

Has #CSSTricks been fully abandoned now? It doesn't look like there's been any posts since April. It helped my #CSS so much over the years I hope that there's a spiritual successor out there. If not then I'd be tempted try something.

Has anyone ever had to sticky position an element to the bottom of the viewport once the user scrolls to the end of the element before?

My mental model of position: sticky; isn't the best and my #JS solution was a bit hacky. #CSS

Dear plugin/framework/platform devs, STOP USING !important IN YOUR CSS. Either learn the basics of specificity and the cascade or hire front-of-frontend devs. You're making your code much harder to consume, especially for juniors.

I was kinda hoping calc-size() could resolve intrinsic sizes inside math functions but it doesn't seem to (at least in Chrome Canary). Not sure if that's a bug or if Friday afternoon isn't the best time to try to understand draft specs 🀯

I don't think it would be a common use case, but it would be handy to be able to use it to solve things like this https://mastodon.social/@Jbasoo/110593686096922129

Dear #TailwindCSS experts, is it possible to do min/max/clamp/etc? Doesn't seem to be any mention of these functions in the docs. #CSS

I'm kinda skeptical of every new framework trying to become the next big thing and locking developers into a methodology that abstracts the fundamentals away. I think I'd have a lot more confidence if their mission was explicitly, "This design pattern is awesome so we want to refine it, push the web platform forward and ultimately make our own framework obsolete."

Does anyone know of a way to make the width of an element snap to a multiple of a base value? I'm trying to see if it's possible to get these items to align to the grid-paper like background. I figure round(up, max-content, var(--bg-grid-size)) is the logic I'd want but round() doesn't accept intrinsic sizes. Maybe there's a technique with min() or something?

I went to book a flight with Wizz Air last night and the absolute shocking web performance made me feel better about my own work.

It takes ~30s to process the and render the search, literally the primary function of the site. I like the DX of but is this kind of performance really worth it?!

Arbitrary shade values usually go from lightest (100) to darkest (900), but shouldn't it be the other way around?

I've been playing around with the number being the lightness value in hsl/oklch and it seems to be fairly intuitive.
