President Handsome Joe Biden is in town today, and my transit ride across town was about 2X as long as usual; I wonder... !

JasonW,

@Tengrain I just got a SoundTransit alert tying the light rail delays to the @potus visit

If you've ever found yourself missing the "good old days" of the #web, what is it that you miss? (Interpret "it" broadly: specific websites? types of activities? feelings? etc.) And approximately when were those good old days?

No wrong answers — I'm working on an article and wanted to get some outside thoughts.

JasonW,

@molly0xfff I miss the era of personal web sites started out of genuine admiration for something, rather than out of a desire to farm a few advertising pennies

Just before , vandals stole and destroyed a bronze statue of that was at a Little League field in Wichita. You can help fund its replacement.

We've reached the point of content warning sandwich tweets because they aren't vegan. No wonder bluesky is winning.

JasonW,

@landley You can turn off content warnings

Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.

JasonW,

@gruber “Regular people” don’t care about Bluesky as long as Twitter still works. This isn’t like Gmail, where wannabe early adopters paid $200 for an invite to a service that offered something novel and better. This is a service for people who want Twitter, but not hosted by Twitter X Corp.
