Obama wasn’t perfect (drone strikes!), but I miss that he was the only president in my lifetime who showed any signs of being a remotely normal person.
Related to this thread — note the part where the cops disregard the reported crime and ask the students about their visas. Little interest in violence against a woman, but they go fishing for visa violators to fill their quota. (And @lana amazingly stepped up to help, doing a not all heroes wear capes in response)
Really infuriating to see this sort of stuff is still happening.
There was a scandal shortly after I moved to Japan almost TWENTY YEARS AGO where a woman was murdered by a known abuser who had been repeatedly brought to the attention of police.
They passed some new laws or something, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed , because you hear the same story of police ignoring domestic violence, stalking, and other bad behavior against women that escalates to a more serious crime.
Help, I’m “playing” a “game”...what are two objects or items that are very similar such that a vague conversation could confuse? (Someone is “different” and that’s the game)
