Eggyhead,

As soon as there’s a decent standalone VR headset not owned my an invasive social media company, I’ll be on board.

Eggyhead,

It’s not an android post without someone trying to make it about Apple instead.

Eggyhead,

Hey as long as that’s the narrative Google believes…

Eggyhead,

Keep going with the Trails series by order of release. The story gets pretty crazy. The crossbell arc that just released on switch is pretty good.

Maybe take a look at Tales of Arise as well. It might be a mixed bag for you, but I found myself easily engrossed by it.

Modern Warfare 3 download is huge (200GB) due to “increased amount of content” (www.pcgamesn.com)

Ah, yes. The “let’s bloat our game size to bully other games off your SSD so you’ll be reluctant to ever uninstall it, because reinstalling it would be a big pain, that way you’ll play it indefinitely and give us extra money in micro transactions” strategy.

Eggyhead,

The games aren’t even worth a fraction of the space they demand, in my humble opinion. They’re more frustration and dedication than fun.

Eggyhead,

I’m just using Safari with the Vinegar extension.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley | Friends in the valley trailer (www.youtube.com)

Developed by Hyper Games and based on Finnish author Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin series — which debuted a whopping 78 years ago — the brand-new ‘Friends in the Valley’ trailer below gives an idea of the gameplay and “over 50” characters you’ll encounter on a musical quest that, , is inspired by the original...

Eggyhead,

It wasn’t until only several years ago that I learned about Tove Jansson’s Moomin stories. Since then, they’ve become some of my favorite little characters. You can find full episodes of the old anime on YouTube and snuffkin is easily my favorite of the bunch. I want his hat for myself.

Eggyhead,

Isn’t there a toggle in the controls menu? Anyway, I play GTA5 in first person mode with FPS controls like some kind of monster.

Boston Dynamics turned its robot dog into a talking tour guide with ChatGPT (www.theverge.com)

Boston Dynamics turned its robot dog into a talking tour guide using AI as seen in a somewhat unsettling video posted by Boston Dynamics. Boston Dynamics used OpenAI’s ChatGPT API, along with some open-source large language models (LLM) to carefully train its responses. It then outfitted the bot with a speaker, added...

Eggyhead,

Someday we’ll all be dead and robot dogs will be giving tours to nothing. Some alien species will come across our planet and learn all about us through the ways in which the robots interact with nobody.

Eggyhead,

Well go enjoy that 12 year old Samsung TV, then, Mr Samsung user! Nobody said you shouldn’t.

Eggyhead,

I dropped from yearly premium to extra before the price change deadline. I had intended to anyway since I only played a single game on the premium tier by the end of the year. However, if I don’t play enough games in the extra list to justify its new price by the time this year’s sub is up, I’ll drop to essential and leave it at that.

There are actually plenty of games I want to play on extra to justify its price, but they’re always finding their way further down my backlog. So if I just end up not playing them after a year, there’s just no value in that subscription for me. I do play online all the time, though, so I can somewhat justify essential.

Question of the week: What was the most clever way you’ve ever used an Apple product to solve a problem?

Hello everyone. With more than 15k subscribers, I’m sure the Apple community has some great experiences to share with others. My question this week is, “What was the most clever way you’ve ever used an Apple product to solve a problem?”

Eggyhead,

Worked with some teachers in a school. Occasionally we’d forget something dumb at our desk like our attendance notebook or a stack of handouts for the students. In most cases there was usually someone from our group sitting around at our office space, doing a bit of prep work. We all used iPads in our lessons, so one day I used a combination of Siri Shortcuts with IFTTT, a smart plug and a cheap little lamp to create a quick little alert system that would inform a peer at the desk if something was left behind. The light would click on, and when someone noticed, they’d check the group chat to see who sent it and what was needed.

Eggyhead,

The internet was open/unmoderated long before the rise of this neo-Nazi, in-fighting, domestic-terrorist bullshit. There are propagandists to blame for this uprise of hate, be they religious extremists, foreign agents, or the billionaire class. It’s not the means by which their agenda is conveyed that’s the problem. Keep in mind that a free/unmoderated internet is how we are able to discuss such things in the first place. Imagine if one of them came along to “moderate” what you say.

Eggyhead,

I’d like to see a data collection comparison between the two as well.

Eggyhead,

I’m thankful I have the option to change it.

Eggyhead,

My wife, a graphic designer, just showed me a new feature added to Photoshop that basically allows AI to take a close up portrait and turn it into a full sized photo by generating ideal content around the subject using a few simple prompts. It’s really impressive. All she has to do is touch it up to make sure it’s believable and appealing. I don’t really care, since most advertisement photography is fake anyway, but I worry how propagandists are going to exploit the hell out of AI.

Eggyhead,

Whoosh

Shawna Trpcic Dies: ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Ahsoka’ & ‘Firefly’ Costume Designer Was 56 (deadline.com)

Shawna Trpcic, an Emmy-nominated costume designer best known for her work on several Star Wars series on Disney+ and her collaborations with Joss Whedon, has died, her agency Gersh and Lucasfilm confirmed. She was 56. A cause of death was not provided but Trpcic’s passing was unexpected; as recently as three days ago she was...

Eggyhead,

Rest in peace. Thank you for all that you gave us, Shawna.

Eggyhead,

Do modern TVs even come in non-smart variants anymore?

Eggyhead,

It’s a fair question, but it makes me want to ask why downvotes even matter to anyone. They are usually outnumbered by upvotes in the first place, & aren’t even federated across instances (at least on Kbin).

Eggyhead,

It seems they are unable to exist in any other form than dark fantasy as well.

Eggyhead,

I imagine there’s also an aspect of instilling a culture of shame around something that constitutes as a basic human need. That way people will invariably have at least one basic “temptation” to crawl into church to plead forgiveness over before seeking deeper religious indoctrination.

Eggyhead,

I appreciate the candid reply. Any stand-out AA or indie titles out there that really stuck with you?
