LOL. Linux user uses Nouveau drivers instead of the binary Nvidia https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/ubuntu-linux-install-nvidia-driver-latest-proprietary-driver/ drivers. 🤣 You need the official driver for gaming, ML, CUDA, etc. There is no alternative. #Linux #Ubuntu #Debian #ArchLinux

@nixCraft I don't use nVidia cards. My main comuter (which is a tower) has an AMD GPU and my laptop, not being used for games, use Intel's IGP, which is good enough for what I do with it.

VR and AR can be amazing, but people just don't want to spend a lot of time wearing a headset of any significant size. Now if you could plug it in directly to a jack in your neck like Dr. Phibes that might change the value proposition for some people at least.

@lauren First, I would't plug anything to my brain if it I can help it. Secondly, I tried the last V.R. headset from Meta, (or did they made a new one recently?) and I vas able to see the picture vibrate each time it refraiched the picture, and I usualy can play with a rather low framerate without noticing. (Maybe it's because of the proximity of the screens from my eyes…)

@bigbox My main computer (desktop) is under Kubuntu, but Ubuntu is iffier as years pass, so I want to change.

I would go for Linux Mint, but they stopped making a KDE version of their distro, so...

As a result, my laptop use a Frankenstein Linux, a Mint Mate with Ubuntu's version of Gnome added to it. Can switch between both DE. (Didn't dare install Plasma on it, maybe I should.)

If anyone know on a distro that is to Kubuntu what the Mate edition of Mint is to Ubuntu-MATE, I will gladly take it.

The clue is in the name! It's a portmanteau of "Federated Universe".

It's not a platform nor is it an ecosystem, it's an entire universe of stuff!

Now think about what's in our literal universe: galaxies, black holes, comets, cosmic dust, planets, an unfathomable amount of stuff.

This is not unlike the Fediverse which also has lots of stuff 🌌

@nixCraft I mainly use GNU/Linux, but I still have a Windows in paralel (double-boot) which I mainly use for games that don't work at all on my main OS.
