@djlink Microsoft tools are ingrained in corporate culture. Even if those tools can be run on other platforms those ports are always a shadow of what they are on Windows.
A truly retro painting job today. I painted up this classic 2nd edition 40K Gretchin using everyone's most nostalgic colours. Paint quality may have moved on over the years, but there is a real joy to using these paints.
Those working with Love2d for this year's lisp game jam, it you want to try out love using emscripten 3.59 check out the update-emscripten branch or love.js.
Note I have not put this in the mainline Love2d fennel project as there is a bug in the release version when using the built-in fullscreen switch.
Streaming Day 2 of my Spring Lisp Game Jam project right now!
We'll continue building out the game world by adding a few game objects and possibly wiring up their basic logic. If we have time, we might start working on the interactive editor!
@daviwil it also looks like the GC wasm features hoot depends on have been mainlined by all the major browsers so people won't have to run nightly versions to run the games this time around
Tried to play Tunic today. First thing it does is try to connect to the internet. I blocked it (as I always do) and it just quits. No message, just won't run. If your game has a valid reason to connect to the internet, tell me otherwise I assume it's just to track me.
@mart@deshipu this, traditionaly games were fun because of who you played against. It was a social exercise. What modern designers are doing is making a more addictive version of solitaire.
@deshipu@mart multiplayer games crib the social tennets of traditional games. Single player games are just increasingly intricate Skinner boxes. It's not that I don't believe in game design. It's just that game design is a mirror of Physiology. A snapshot of a certain world view / demographic taught as fundamental axioms.
@deshipu@mart it's really the term "game design" which I am not a fan of. In my experience it synonymous with value maximization strategies. I'm concerned that people genuinely believe this abuse is considered progress.
