You may not know this to look at me and my life, but I am an independent, disabled trans artist and survive on the poverty line as I am unable to work.
I am putting my entire savings into my upcoming gala opening because I believe in the power of community. So your philanthropy towards my passion project means everything, even if just $10. Even if you just share this post with your networks. It counts and I am grateful.
I am currently a very tired, stressed-out queer trans disabled human, however, my art and what it stands for is a passion of mine, so I am very honoured to be a part of this prestigious group exhibition, the Merri-bek Summer Show, opening 2pm, Saturday 4 Nov 2023, Counihan Gallery. Please come support me & all the talent this show highlights. Who knows, I may even win the major prize!
I am highly educated and well travelled. I know that I am extremely lucky to enjoy both of these privileges - but I also recognize how hard my grandparents and parents worked for them. I stand on their shoulders.
My world view is informed by my grandparents being #Holocaust survivors and my own direct experience of 9/11.
It is also informed by my clinical experience, as well as observing complex disability.
My political views are traditionally centre-left but - over the past few years - I have realised that the Left no longer reflects my values and I do not recognize what the Left is any more.
However, the Right does not reflect my values either.
I post views and musings and articles that may or may not resonate with you.
If they do, that's great.
If they do not, that's fine too.
I am not going to engage in arguments and I am not going to hesitate to Mute people who are clearly looking to troll or fight.
New at my Patreon... @NarrelleMHarris and I head to Melbourne's western Footscray neighbourhood - for a taste of abstract art above its gritty streets:
