...stand out against certain backgrounds and to match the Sega logo. Also he was originally named "Mr. Hedgehog", but later changed to "Sonic". "Sonic" was chosen because it represented speed. 🦔💨
Were you a Sega kid back in the days and could experience the gameplay of the Mario competitor?
Never got hands on a SNES back in the days but remember seeing pics of games like Yoshi's Island or Illusion of Time in gaming magazines and being mindblowed. 🤯
I only had a Game Boy Classic at this time and was dreaming about how much fun it would be to play such complex and colorful games. 💭
Got this big boy by German premium TV producer Loewe today via small ads for 10 bucks. 📺
TV is from 2007 but brings all the video signal input options I need for my workshop to check the functionality of all the consoles from NES to PS3 and their games. 🕹️ 🎮
Before that I used a CRT with only ONE Scart input and several external distributors. 😣
That was my main equipment for catching all 151 first gen Pokemon on original hardware. :pika:
Using Pokemon Stadium, two controllers and two Transfer Paks on N64 I could play the Game Boy games and exchange Pokemon between them simultaneously on one setup and on the big screen.

Nach der vielen Häme, aber auch grundsätzlichen Fragestellung zur Daseinsberechtigung, habe ich nun einmal meine ganz persönlichen Erfahrungen mit dem Remote-Player niedergeschrieben.
Started into my first playthrough of #FinalFantasy IV today. Decided for the PAL GBA version from my collection because it contains additional content and got rid of bugs the US and JP releases suffered from. Play it using the Game Boy Player with the softmod GBi. ⚔️
Maybe it will become a 💯% playthrough by going for all bosses or even completing the in-game bestiary. 🐉
All of my friends owned a PS1 but I went for the N64 because I wanted to play Mario Kart 64 and nothing else. 😆
I played many PS1 games on my friend's consoles. That way I experienced the birth of fundamental game series like Tekken, Gran Turismo, Silent Hill, Resident Evil or GTA. :underheart:
Did you also have to make a choice for one of the two consoles? Which one did you pick and why? 🤔
The SNES has so many classics that are still highly enjoyable today.
I never got hands on a SNES as a kid but have so much fun now catching up all these gems. :catPOWER:
How mind-blowing must be the experience to play masterpieces like Super Metroid or Zelda in the 90's as a kid when they were released. :fatyoshi:
Remember always sitting next to a light source when playing on my Game Boy. In the end it always was about playing as much as possible, no matter the circumstances 😆
How did you deal with the lack of light or did you even have one of these Light Max? 💡
I never was able to beat one of the first gen #Pokemon games as a kid. Couldn't defeat against the Elite Four but had a ton of fun with the game until this point. :fatpikachu:
Meanwhile I caught up for that and in addition I collected all 151 Pokemon using original hardware. Will do some posts about this project in the upcoming days because I still have some capture footage. 📹
Could you master one of the first gen games back in the days❓
Once again supported by @TheRetroSven I finally achieved the good ending in Sonic 1 for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive by getting all emeralds. 💪 Took me three streams but was a fun and not too hard challenge. 🦔 💨
Probably I will now do the same with Sonic 2 for Sega Master System as the next 💯%-challenge, but not quite sure yet. 💎
I experienced the Mega Man series on Game Boy as a kid as really challenging.
Have already caught up Mega Man II and IV on NES yet and look forward to the other titles. 🤖
What are your experiences with the classic Mega Man series? :wily_ufo:
First little milestone for getting the good ending in Sonic 1 for Genesis/Mega Drive is achieved. 💪
I just could finish the game on 60 Hz with 3 of the 6 required chaos emeralds. 💎
Will focus on getting most of the emeralds in the early levels during the next attempts. Otherwise I will restart. I think this will help getting the good ending in the nearer future. 🦔 💨
I loved playing MK64 on my N64, but never got my hands on Super Mario Kart back in the days. Now as an adult I experience this game as extremely hard to master. 😖
What are your experiences with Super Mario Kart and are you also struggling with the difficulty like me? 🏁
Thanks to everyone who boosted, favored, watched or commented on my first little #RetroTrivia video published here on Mastodon a few days ago. I'm really happy about the response. 😀
To express my appreciation I already created the next #RetroClip to hopefully serve you with an entertaining start into the weekend. 🎉
Unfortunately there are collectables I can't present in my apartment due to limited space and time. 🤷♂️
This laundry basket is located in my basement and waits for appropriate handling. 👏
I know it's a shame but I collected retrogaming stuff faster than I could care for storage capabilities. 😆
For some time now I was thinking about presenting #RetroTrivia not only via pictures but short video clips that don't exceed the Mastodon server's file size limit. 🗄️
Finally I arranged to capture, edit and publish my first video directly here on Mastodon. 📼
When you've got 40 seconds and want to know what going too fast in Sonic can lead to, give the video a try and me some feedback. 👌
This is the part of my collection I present in a display case below my TV. 📺
I don't have many guides but I like to collect them. There is a guide for my all time favorite Silent Hill and for the first generation Pokemon games I used to catch all 151 Pokemon couple of years ago. 📖
What are your thoughts about guides as collectibles in a time when the Internet offers all answers to your questions? 🌐
