This is not an island you come to if you want to zoom around and look at everything and then leave. If you like to wander and take photos and stare at wonderful scenery, it is definitely a place to visit. And there things to look at (easier if you do have a car, but I didn't).
Inside the amazing Unst Boat Haven on Unst in the Shetland Islands: one of the most attractive and interesting museums in Scotland and well worth the trip from Shetland's Mainland to see, along with Unst's other attractions. Atlantic Puffins are very cooperative models. Somehow, up until this year, I always visited their summer locations outside of the season, sometimes missing them by just a day. But this year I had a great time photographing them in Shetland. I could do this all summer, every summer, they’re great company!
Scotland's most northerly castle, Muness Castle on the island of Unst in Shetland. It was built from 1598 by Laurence Bruce, a deeply unpopular Sheriff of Shetland. It was attacked by the Earl of Orkney in 1608 and the French in 1627. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/unst/munesscastle/index.html
