Back in business, the Apogee Symphony MKII is now integrated into my studio and working like a charm. Will probably retire the Apogee Quartet that has been my workhorse for over a decade. So glad that I have made this switch from the Presonus Quantum 4848. The Symphony is vastly superior. #gearsquad#apogee#symphony#studio#recording#music

EAGLES Legend DON HENLEY Sang Whatever Popped Into His Head While Recording, Created A Late-80s Classic; PROFESSOR OF ROCK Reports (Video)
We have lift-off, the Apogee Symphony MKII is connected and operating. I've set it as the primary output for my computer, although I can easily change output devices. Tomorrow I'll start the process of connecting the DB25 connectors for all 32 inputs & outputs and start testing. #gearsquad#apogee#symphony#recording#studio#music
This email just gave me flashbacks. [Shudder]
If you're pairing RODE gear with an Intel Mac, hold off on the updates, as Apple is changing stuff that breaks audio gear.
I know Apple has this huge reputation for being "better for creative types", but when I was still doing home studio consultations, the VAST majority of my tech support calls came right after a Mac OS update.
Apple might make pretty software, but they do an ABYSMAL job of working with accessory manufacturers to prep them for updates.
Well the Presonus Quantum 4848 is removed from the rack and awaiting its final disconnection from my system. The Apogee Symphony arrived at the L&M Ontario depot from California a couple of days ago, so it should be here soon. Getting excited now. #gearsquad#studiogear#studio#recording#presonus#apogee
After the feedback I got on the piece I posted here and sent to a few people on Telegram, I took the plunge and ordered an Audio-Technica AT2005USB for recording. I have a long way to go and much to learn, and I don't expect to be the next @Jyoti, but it's an I Spent Money commitment.
If you were only allowed to use stock plugins, which reverb would you use on a solo acoustic guitar track?
I'm struggling a bit to find a nice reverb setting, and I'm pretty sure that it's possible to dial in a nice reverb with the Cubase Professional edition.
Been working on a cover of Bryan Adams song Run To You and have been struggling a lot with the guitar sound. All of the Les Paul’s have way too much low end & sound really muddy. The amount of EQ required to “fix” this is ridiculous. The Strat actually works really well. So the takeaway is that a $150 Squier works better here than a $6000 Gibson.
Well, go figure. I’m now totally perplexed. Powered the system up this morning, and it works. Nothing different from yesterday when it wasn’t working, just an 18 hour power down.
So what’s my take away here? Firstly, I’ve lost all faith in the Presonus interface. Secondly, I’ve bought myself some extra time to explore alternatives, but an alternative will have to be found. Thirdly, I need to make hay while the sun is shining.
I'm looking for a pistol grip/shockmount system for a Rode NT4 stereo microphone. The Rode PG2-R is a thing that comes up a lot, and it's designed for shotgun microphones. Having never seen one of these, is there any reason why it wouldn't work with an NT4, which is not a shotgun? Would it's internal cable management system prevent this combination from being used? #Audio #recording #microphones
In an unprecedented occurrence, got a rush recording job from a new-to-me client, did the work, sent the recordings, and got paid all within two hours.
I think this is how I imagined "the Internet" working for me back when I started setting up my own recording rig (mumble mumble) years ago. And it finally happened! Once. :)
