Saying g'bye to the last of the #pomegranates - one of the bright spots in the Season of Damp and Darkness - I happily spend time cleaning them, storing the bright seeds in my fridge for hot cereal, cottage cheese, yogurt, salads, or a handful tossed right into my mouth :o)
Our local market had the largest, heaviest pomegranates I've ever seen! Easily larger than a softball, and I just couldn't get enough of them. When their season is over, I know spring is on the way 💐
I've just spent a fun hour seeing how far I could spray pomegranate juice when slicing them open (about 3ft, for anyone who's interested), while listening to one of my favourite Renee Fleming CDs (The Beautiful Voice, for anyone who's interested). Munch, the cat, joined in at one point, yowling loudly - I'm not sure if he was singing along or trying to drown her out, but the competition was pretty intense for a while.
I somehow thought that eating a pomegranate would perk me up. But now I'm full and sleepy.
As an aside, if you have a couple square meters and you live somewhere warm, you ought to grow a pomegranate bush. They don't need much care and the flavor is way better than store bought. #gardening#pomegranates
