Went back in time to play an adventure I never had the chance to. :) It also works great on Steam Deck!
Just make sure to bind Alt - Enter to one of your paddles. The game will load with an enlarged upside down/backwards screen. Pressing Alt and Enter will fix it.
Progress this weekend was coming up with a shell animation. Wasn’t sure I could fit a convincing spinning shell in just 8 pixels wide, but this feels pretty good to me.
Also, changing width introduces more complications with altering the collision box. Shell mode, is going to be an important part of our traversal mechanics.
Hey everyone! The 66th edition of the #GodotWildJam is over, and our game made it to rank 15 overall (out of 159 games). If you haven't yet, maybe give it a go? :)
"Spelunk't" might not be perfectly on theme, but really impressed me with its clever mechanic. Don't want to spoil too much, so lemme just say it's a platformer with a bit of... well, "Tetris". 😉 Feels like there's a ton more potential behind that idea!
"Lumina" looks and plays quite a bit like "Limbo" and has some clever puzzles as well. I just wish the jump wouldn't be so clunky. It's probably by design, but still...
If you hate puzzle games, then give "Bouncy Batsy" a go instead. Beause this "Jump King" inspired rage-game will make you hate yourself even more than that!
I'm not one for "New Year's resolutions", but I am one for overly ambitious projects.
For 2023, Project365 is "One New Game Per Day".
Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".
I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).
I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.
I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.
One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.
February 19, 2024 - Day 415 - NewPlay Review
Total NewPlays: 451
Game: Sheepy: A Short Adventure
Platform: Steam
Released: Feb 7, 2024
Installed: Feb 19, 2024
Unplayed: 0d
Playtime: 42m
(The next few reviews will be very short, because I played each game on the day while I was sick, but I didn't have the energy to write the reviews.)
Sheepy: A Short Adventure is a 2D pixel-art platformer.
You play as an abandoned plush toy ("Sheepy"), who's brought to life inside an abandoned factory.
A pixel-art platformer is exactly the kind of game I would have avoided at the start of this ridiculous project, and it would have been my loss.
Both the soundtrack and the visuals of this game are gorgeous, and it's got the gameplay just right to match. This game is utterly glorious - and it's free! (link below)
