Arganos was a side-on action RPG title due for release on the #PCEngine by Intec around 1992. Featuring singing by Sumika Yamanaka and character designs by Taku Kitazaki - the game disappeared without a trace: https://www.gamesthatwerent.com/2024/05/arganos/
It's time once again for my retro game of the week. This week, why don't we throw some kids into actual hell? What, you think nobody would make a game about that? You've never played Yokai Dochuki, then...
Inspired by @janbeta and his use of #Turrican as a dependable game to test out his Amigas...
What is your go-to test game?
You've set up a new emulator or piece of retro hardware and you need to test out the frame rates or the input lag or just that it works... what is the first game you load?
For me, it's always Alien Crush on the #PCEngine. No idea why... I guess I just know how it should look and feel. Plus, it's an awesome game!
Finished recapping the #pcengine PAC for the #laseractive. Also tested it and it still works. Phew. All that's left now is the #sega#megadrive PAC (and the the NEC Laseractive) and I can move on to the next consoles.
After replacing the ICPs and taking lots of time removing the front and drive so I could also replace the remaining 3 caps on them I got about halfway re-assembling the #laseractive. Time to call it a day and also remembered I wanted to RGB mod it and don't have the parts yet.
Did Bitmap Brother's Gods really exist on the #PCEngine or was it merely vapourware? We add a new entry on the game within the #GTW archives and hope that over time more will come to light on it. If you know anything more - please do get in touch:
It's Friday... and I'm no longer on leave... which means it's time for the return of Retro Game of the Week!
This week, it's Bikkuriman World, a PC Engine game that you might not have heard of. Chances are that if you're into retro gaming you've played it, though...
Started taking apart the #laseractive... what have I begun?! It's like I entered the batcave uninvited and all these bats are just hanging there, ready to start flying at me and bite me.
Last week I tested my #laseractive because a friend wanted to test his PAC. He dropped by today. After I turned on the LA it started to smell like an old #gamegear, nothing else. Power led blinks red once and then nothing. nothing on the screen either. Now I don't have an excuse to wait with the recap anymore. Except time of course...
Ready for a night of retrogaming! Shops closed for the next 2 weeks so I am making good use of the location, invited some fellow gamers and collectors for a night of free beer and games.
Apparently #Analogue Duos are shipping (mine has been at "label created" for 2 days now), but my experience with them as a company has been so poor that it has now completely put me off getting a Pocket too. This Reddit thread sums it up nicely. I may as well be the last comment, except my order was through in the first minute of pre-orders. First in, first out, anyone at Analogue? That's how I do the orders where I work. #retrogaming#PCEngine
Continua 👇🏻
On this day [Dec 8] in 1989, NEC released the CoreGrafx and the SuperGrafx in Japan! Why did they release two consoles on the same day is an absolute head-scratcher!
Ares v135 released (ares-emu.net)
ares is a cross-platform, open source, multi-system emulator, focusing on accuracy and preservation....
Analogue is shipping its TurboGrafx console and restocking Pockets (www.theverge.com)
Just in time for the holidays.
