Einen Beitrag zum Thema Browser zu veröffentlichen, ist mindestens genauso anstrengend wie zum Thema Messenger. Inhaltlich setzt man sich kaum mit den Aussagen und Erklärungen auseinander, sondern Stammtischparolen ersetzen dann eine ernsthafte Diskussion. Auf diesem Niveau möchte ich wirklich nicht diskutieren.

@tk With the deprecation and removal of XUL, XPCOM will soon be consigned to the past. Gecko shed some weight in Nightly recently, which usually has larger binaries due to experimental code, and I hope it continues to shrink. I find it as fast as Chromium these days, if not faster, on sites like SPW.

@kuketzblog@mozilla Man kann doch sowieso nur noch Forks nuzten. Egal ob z.B. Mozilla oder Cannonical (Ubuntu), keines kommt mir noch auf den PC/Smartphone. Ich wundere mich allerdings über Thunderbird, dass da noch nichts passiert ist.

Czy siatka, czy lista, to mniejsza, ważne że była ta konfiguracja, i dostosowując się do większego Chrome, zablokowali możliwość konfiguracji menu głównego.
OBY przywrócili konfigurację menu głównego w Firefox, nawet jeśli to tylko durny sposób kopiowania z Chrome.

@george@mozilla pretty sad they have to pay! Firefox, LibreOffice, Python, etc should all be at the centre of our education to teach open source, freedoms of choice, lower costs to doing business, etc without vendor lock in.
Malheureusement, ça n'aura pas lieu. Les efforts fournis par les commus libres, aussi grands soient ils, n'arriveront jamais à être un poids même digne d'une mention honorable comme Firefox l'est aujourd'hui.
FF a vaincu IE parce qu'IE était légitimement mauvais, lent, et manquait de fonctionnalités, mais cette bataille ne pourra plus jamais être recréée car la seule fonction que les navigateurs alternatifs peuvent avoir c'est le blocage de pub & respect accru de la vie privée, dont l'immense majorité des gens se contrefoutent désormais, complaisants de la situation.
Le changement demande un effort non-nul, et qu'à l'époque utiliser le web était un effort constant (installe Java, installe Flash, installe Silverlight, installe Adobe Reader, ...), donc ça se noyait dans la masse. Mais aujourd'hui? La centralisation fait qu'un navigateur alternatif sera toujours plus difficile d'accès: volontairement sous-référencé par les sources d'applis (quand pas interdits jusqu'à condamnation par l'UE, wink wink Apple), moins bien intégrés avec le reste du système (APIs inaccessibles ou non documentées) quand ce dernier ne fait pas tout son possible pour t'en empêcher (Windows qui te nargue pour Edge).
Il n'y a à ce jour plus d'argumentaire suffisant en faveur des alternatives pour une personne même dans le 1er percentile, c'est une bataille perdue.
