I'm off to Brisbane to see the mighty Cirith Ungol, live. I'll be riding the Honda CRF300 Rally down so I can explore a bit while I'm there. Should be awesome!

GILBY CLARKE's Passion For Motorcycle Building Explored In New Episode Of THNKLAB MOTORS' 'Origins'
Gilby Clarke is the focus of an upcoming Thnklab Motors episode of "Origins". Best known as the former rhythm guitarist for GUNS N' ROSES, Gilby is more than just a rock icon. He's a masterful artist who channels his creative genius into building custom Harley Davidsons. Beyond the iconic riffs and...
I like to imagine an older me cherishing these motorcycle riding videos, hopefully glad I spent the money and effort to make them. That guy is my primary audience 😬, but if anyone else gets something out of them, even better!
I remember this ride clearly. It was the beginning of the COVID Era, and I was still working in-person in a customer service role. I was finishing up my degree. I took a ride out to a local state park with some empty roads running through it and did some sightseeing. I had my first "close call" when an oncoming car driver failed to notice me (a bright green cannonball), took a left turn directly in front of me, and stopped in my travel lane when she panicked.
It was just as hot as yesterday until about 2 pm, and same as yesterday the forest has turned the air conditioning on with the low clouds.
A few more days/weeks and those clouds will be bringing in mist and the hill across the valley in previous photo will not be seen for days while monsoon quenches the landscape.
Get a desulfator. They’re cheap now online; you don’t even have to build your own anymore. I’ve successfully rescued several knackered batteries with mine. I’ll warn you it does take several days of doing its thing to restore the cranking amps on a battery but if it’s dead just due to neglect and sitting there discharged it usually works.
Rode through smoldering aftermath of a forest fire. It was fine till late evening yesterday when I rode past this same stretch. This summer has been very dry, I hope it rains soon!
In today's drama, this is two minutes walk from my home. Not sure if the owner of this recently harvested timber patch lit it up intentionally as they often do to "clear up" the land. Hopefully the dirt roads are enough of a fire break. Neighbour and I are keeping a watch if it jumps across to our lands.
I had a nice few days up the coast with old mates. Knowing of fun options, I rode.
From Windsor I headed to Wisemans Ferry, very little traffic, and none at all in the funnest bits. Just made the ferry, the sole car turned left, & I turned right to Mangrove Mtn. It's narrow, winding, bumpy, passes through a few little towns, & roadworks. I was the only one going my way. Hit the boring freeway at Somersby, riding highways to Nelson Bay.
For the return, I considered the Bylong Valley Way, but ended up on the infamous Putty Rd. Again, SFA traffic, until we got to the fun tight bits. Alas, roadworks (landslides). But I snuck to the head of the queue, so had a great time till the next roadworks. Great riding far outweighed roadworks. 😉
Major range anxiety near the end when my light came on ~30km earlier than expected. Not sure how that happened... 🙄 Found a servo, filled, & figured out I would have made Windsor. Just. 😱
Heh, if I filled up 10 liters fuel every week in my motorcycle for 10 years (and rode the ~350-400km every week to use it up) it barely comes close to what this private jet consumed in one flight:
