Breaking news is when I really miss Twitter. I have learned about the surprise announcement of the 4 July general election in the UK many times from many channels long before it appears in any form or shape in my Mastodon feeds. It's all right. Maybe Mastodon isn't meant to play that role. But if it is, there's still a long way to go. #news#breaking#mastodon
Discovered yesterday that Masto embeds do not work on our Drupal site -- as in they are not visible on the public facing page, although they appear fine in the back-end editor. Anybody here know what might be the issue? I embed other <iframe> stuff all the time and have never had this problem before. Any and all suggestions welcome. #FediHelp#drupal#mastodon
Beyond my wildest expectations, we blew past the 175€ goal with 1056,01€ for the #germany based food bank "Die Tafel" last Monday within 10 hours of #streaming !
A huge thank you to @Rooki and @FusionWarrior
for their extremely generous donations and the many fine folk from the #fediverse as well as the #mastodon and #gaming communities who helped out and came by.
My community might be small, but boy howdy, is it mighty!

It's been a minute, #Mastodon Alright, I wrote a lil post for the #Obsidian forum on my crusade against #Dataview (not literally; it's a great #plugin ) Here's the link if any are interested:
The direction of computing today (AI, everything is a damn ad/influencer bs, etc) is why things like #oss, #Mastodon, #meshtastic and #SelfHosting in general are so important. I say that even as an apple user but of all the big players I dislike them the least.
UI differences are a big factor in the success/failure of decentralised federation of diverse platforms and content
And this seems a good example: bridged #mastodon posts onto #BlueSky which has a lower character limit than Mastodon.
So, just like #lemmy posts on mastodon, you don't get the full content of the post (which ends with an abrupt ellipsis here) and have to take a link to the original platform.
However powerful the underlying protocols, this isn't far from screenshots.
