I'll create a button entirely in code
or I can add one as a Godot node
I could reference it as an image to load
so the user can press on an icon as showed
I can make it a label, a label with text
or add a box with collision detect
That requires experience that I haven't got
as to whether to make it a hotspot or not
Interaction semantics and arguing facts
Don't begin to correct my wayward syntax
This fuss over buttons to some will be petty
But I'm making a game, not making spagetti!
For those reading, I'm currently using button nodes with text labels - I guess? But in future I'd probably prefer the buttons to be sprites because thats how we create custom UIs, right? I'm guessing this will still be a button node of sorts but one I can 'texture' with an image? Thanks, anyone 🤠 #godot#godotengine#gameDev
@jovial et moi organisons un atelier de création de jeu sous Godot aux @jdll le 26 mai, de 11h à 13h.
Faites tourner l'info si vous connaissez des personnes intéressées. #godotengine#atelier#JdLL2024
The first ranged enemy is coming along nicely in this #godotengine project! #limboai and #behaviortrees are powerful, but definitely take some learning to get good at.
I think I'm happy with the turning and firing of this monster, and the movement logic seems okay now.
The idle is a bit of a problem. I need seeing the player to break that, and right now it always waits 3 seconds.
🎮 We, #JetBrains, are on the lookout for speakers for our annual Game Dev Days event. In the past, we've had some truly impressive presentations from big names in the game industry.
My favorite was someone created a game as a presentation. 🤯
We recently looked at using an addon for #GodotEngine to keep track of all your TODO/HACK/FIXME code debt, today we do the same with Visual Studio Code.
Exactly one year ago, I published the AssetPlacer, an environment art plugin for #GodotEngine, that resulted largely as an artifact of my Bachelor's Thesis!
There is a new Humble of interest to #gamedev. The Epic Environments Mega Bundle is a huge collection of assets (2350+) for #UnrealEngine and #Unity3d, although as you will see in the video, exporting to #GodotEngine is easy enough.
It is #LibreMonday once again ! And this is a special one: if you're into #gamedev then you probably already know about @godotengine , right? If not, then you probably should - and follow the #GodotEngine hashtag while you're at it 😜 godotengine.org/
Finally! I've implemented animations for door opening/closing and entering/leaving a room.
Still missing the knocking animation, which shouldn't be difficult to add now 🧐
