Playing with flame #fractals is a perennial joy (and also confusing as hell, as all the tools I've tried over the years are great for exploring ideas in an open ended fashion but I've never found a really linear/'predictable' approach to using them, regardless of how much fun it is, it still feels a lot like video game "button-mashing".) #art
▶️Creative Sunday:
While playing with a G'MIC script to render Buddhabrot-like fractals, I came across these patterns in the rendered images, which actually looks like things (animals, silhouette, crouching woman).
It's not only in the clouds that you can see intriguing shapes!😮
Swedish mathematician Niels Fabian Helge von Koch was born #OTD in 1870.
He established results in number theory, including one that relates the Riemann hypothesis to the asymptotic distribution of prime numbers. But he is probably best known for what we call the "Koch Curve" – one of the first examples of a fractal.

Valuable info to know how to calculate should you be locked in a school bus without technology and slowly invaded by huge Australian spiders https://youtu.be/TLOKpJcIp98
hoping to record a YouTube video next week talking about the Distance Estimation (by gradient) Method for rendering finer detail in Julia and Mandelbrot fractals
