Final Fantasy video is going up on Sunday. This took forever due to losing momentum over the holidays at a point where I'd have to spend a few more days grinding.
Unexpected second delivery today! Managed to grab FF Pixel Remaster and Persona 5 Strikers from videogamesplus. Persona was only $20 Canadian, an absolute steal.
And then there's the Another Code collection out today too. I loved the original DS version but never played the Wii one. I'm hoping my life craziness is over now so I can start playing Switch again. #Nintendo#NintendoSwitch#ShareYourGames#FinalFantasy#Persona
"If I were a Pick-Up Artist trying to let you in on the Big Secrets To Getting Laid, this would likely be one of the ‘secrets’ I disclose: if you want to shag someone, top of your checklist should be ‘ask them about something they love, then give them time and space to answer.’ "
One from back in the archives, in which I explain #FinalFantasy and also something about helping people feel comfy in your presence.
I haven't ever finished any of the #SNES#FinalFantasy games. That's something I plan on changing. I mean, I've finished FF4 The After Years, but not the original FF4.
Naturally, I'm going to start by playing Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
This reference to the 1984 movie "Splash" in Final Fantasy is more clumsy than the franchises' later references, and reminds me of Warren Beatty asking about Diane Keaton in Ultima II, or Short Round telling us about Indy in Ultima IV.
One thing I love about FFXVI is that it's so easy to jump back into it. After about 15 mins of playing (after being away since last summer), I was doing combos like I never left. A testament of a good battle system.
I didn't know what to expect from the unannounced job but I wasn't expecting Krile to job change into a Pictomancer, Alphinaud in the previous trailer was just bait.
But with 2 new DPS jobs, DPS queues are going to be absolutely disgusting come the new expansion #FFXIV#FinalFantasy#FF14
I always get strange looks like "Are you stupid or what?!" when I say, the best video game ever is...
FINAL FANTASY VI (or III in the US).
And I would never guess, who is going to back up me on this:
The Angry Video Game Nerd.
At first I was skeptical, almost frightened: Will he destroy my favorite game in his usual super cynical ways?
Well, he didn't. He did in fact such a good praise, I couldn't do better. IN ALL ASPECTS!
I truly have never seen a more fair and all things covering homage to that OUTSTANDING game.
The opera scene is there. The suicide scene (which almost made me quit the game) is there. Everything that matters is there. But still no real spoilers. There is even praise for that other HUGE SNES game out there – Chrono Trigger – which btw. originally was meant to be the successor of Final Fantasy VI (which was Final Fantasy III in the US - yes I mentioned it, but not that this happened because Nintendo US was stupid, and this in so many ways).
And say what you want about the AVGN , this is damn well done, even if you don't agree.
And if you aren't familiar with the old™ Final Fantasy franchise – here are my "must play" recommendations (in order of "well doneness"):
Final Fantasy VI (III in the US, did I mention this?) / SNES
Final Fantasy VII / PS1
Final Fantasy IX / PS1
Final Fantasy X / PS2
Final Fantasy V / SNES
Final Fantasy XII / PS2
Everything after XII, even the FFVII remake sucks. Stay away!
And because it was on the way to become Final Fantasy:
Chrono Trigger
(it didn't because [one reason] the game mechanics are way too different)
I have two links for you: The original Youtube and an Invidious instance (sometimes those instances fail, but I'd recommend it anyway, because it is not Google):
PS: Yes, I know, there where some "enhanced" reeditions on the PS1 and other consoles, sometimes with stupid 3d remodeling. But they left out the strippers in the remake. Yes the strippers. Don't get a victim of censorship. Don't fall for the stupid anime movies added later. Go for the SNES original!
2023 gaming backlog: no. 46 Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)
A divisive entry and for very good reason. FF8 is a great example of fixing things that weren't broken, offering a plethora of overly-complex mechanics that draw the game out to a crawl and a nonsensical plot filled with irritating characters.
The final game completed for 2023 is a classic game and absolutely loved playing through it and finishing it. #finalfantasyVI the game has a great villain and great story. I played the game when it first came out in the snes and the pixel remaster did a great job. #finalfantasy#ps5
