are so fascinating that I have decided to let a few grow in the gardens.

They have so many benefits and uses that I could not list them all. My favorites are to make tea with the flowers and to eat the leaves in salads.

You can compost this plant as long as it has not gone to seed. It will supercharge your pile with a lot of nutrients.

Using those pesky dandelions

It is just as well that the seeds of Dandelions are so infertile!!! But having deadheaded a great number, we have enough for the first couple of batches of Dandelion ‘honey’ of the season. Goes very well with lots of things, although I love it in yoghurt and porridge.

Some weeks ago I saw a lot of with one or two little holes in the flowerhead.
After some research I found out, that little (Glocianus punctiger) might be the ones who made them. They lay their eggs directly under the flowerhead and the larvae eat the seeds when they start to grow. (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/311536092_Locher_im_Lowenzahn)
Have you also seen these little holes?

Recovering from the - no not partying 😆 -working! My work is pretty much always hectic, but warm season weekends are extra 'exciting' and this was May (luckily I don't work Mondays)- so mostly full speed for 7 hours, 3 days...lol

Here we have a view from the w/smoke and --Other shot is Ornithogalum pyrenaicum on the .
more below

last few star shaped flowers at the tip of a stem, white with green markings in the middle of each petal and on the outsides of buds. It's cloudy and hazy outside and the overall light is gloomy, moody, with a blurred green background with hints of pink and a dark shadow to one side.

I mowed the lawn today just to keep it under control. The have a whole community of and in them but as soon as you lift the lid and expose them to bright , they scurry away looking to retain moisture and out of the sight of likely predators like birds. It’s difficult to get a good of any .

However, I did manage to capture an image of this .

We have a paradise in our back yard. Unfortunately, the and (who are nesting in the leaves underneath) had fled the scene by the time I got my camera, but other pollinators were buzzing around. In addition to the and , we also have a blooming crab tree nearby, and some 100-year old (that smell amazing), which have just started blooming.

Light purple lilac flowers (which smell amazing), just starting to bloom.

#ClimateDiary am a bit late for #WildFlowerHour but after reading #RobertMacFarlane’s comment on how much #Cowslip there was this year, and everyone else sharing their pictures, I spotted so much too - nice how these conversations alert you, and to be enjoying this all together. And masses of #Dandelions everywhere too. As someone else said: it seems to be a yellow year! Though a few #Bluebells too 😊

D is for…

Dumbledore, Dandelions and Don’t.

#Dumbledore - an old English word for #bumblebee!

#Dandelions - #flowers not #weeds and vital early forage for #bees.

Don’t - don’t use #poisons like #glyphosate in your #garden. They’re designed to harm and kill.
And they do!

All ready for making balm and dandelion honey 🥰 When they start to die off we dig the roots for coffee. Do pick responsibly, we have a field full of them and our rule is to pick a few then move a couple of meters, leave plenty for wildlife 🐝
