Finally saw Hellraiser: Revelations (free on Tubi) after avoiding it for 12 years because I thought a Pinhead without Doug Bradley was a dumb idea. Why not just come up with another main cenobite? Like the Hulu one did? Anyway, the acting in it mostly sucked and non-Bradley Pinhead was weird, but admittedly there were a couple okay gross-out scenes as usual (which is what I'm watching for anyway).
I'm only partway through Hellraiser: Judgment and while the first scenes are severely twisted and weird (props to the makers for those, if you've seen it, you know what I mean), but then after that for quite a while, it becomes more of a cop/crime drama than a Hellraiser movie 😂 The other stuff in it is definitely a different kind of concept, though. I have to give em that.

Krátká novela Hellraiser je jedna z klasik žánru. Film, který si Barker režíroval sám jsem viděl už jako dítě, ale ke knize jsem se dostal až teď a rozhodně to patří k tomu nejlepšímu, co Barker napsal.

Apparently Hellraiser Judgment from 2018 is on Tubi too. I had avoided the ones where they recast Pinhead, but now I suppose I'll take it in. Pretty gross so far! 🤣
Today (October 13) marks the 31st anniversary of the U.S. release date of the film responsible for my love of horror films (and all things Clive Barker)-- Candyman.
Released 36 years ago yesterday (September 18) in North America (Sept 10 in the UK) in 1987, one of my favorite movies ever, Hellraiser. It's had all kinds of sequels - I've seen all the Bradley ones and the Hulu one. All have their perks (2 might be my favorite? 3 is cool too) but they definitely get cheesier and weirder as they go (with the exception of the newest Hulu one, which was pretty great).
Watching The Plague, as it's on Hulu, is a Clive Barker thing, and I've surprisingly never seen it. It's damn weird and pretty good, and it has James Van Der Beek, of course. Insane stuff just starts happening from pretty much the start (Barker style). Haven't looked anything up about it- I resisted, as I often do, to avoid spoilers. Even 40 some minutes in, you have no idea WHY any of it's happening. Starting to wonder if there will ever be an explanation at all. Wild 🤣
Update: finished The Plague (2006). Very odd, vague ending. I read that it got screwed over by execs (as usual), Clive wanted more budget & time, they threw it direct to video instead. Cool cinematography but kinda low budget look. Not a BAD watch but.. yeah. That's not how they wanted this. Still. Glad I saw it.
Behind the Monsters on Shudder was amazing. the first six episodes were six of the biggest horror movie monsters of all time and ended with a splash with Pinhead from Hellraiser. I am becoming a Clive Barker fan very rapidly. I love the original and the rebooted Hellraiser. I have seen Hellraiser 2 but I’m behind on the sequels. It was a great episode. Yo estuve hace bien poco jugando al videojuego del peliculón "Razas de noche", también del señor Barker, en su versión de Spectrum. No tenía ni idea que había un juego de esa peli, en el Spectrum es un poco como todos los juegos de Spectrum 😅 tendré que probar la versión de Amiga que luce mucho mejor y quizás tenga mejor jugabilidad.
