All these #news stories about #ChatGPT being put into #Apple products makes me want to switch over to a feature #phone. 😣 I just want to get away from #AI 😩 :phone: :blobcatangry:
OpenAI has announced the launch of GPT-4o, an iteration of its GPT-4 model that powers ChatGPT — and the rollout starts today.
The latest update “is much faster” and improves “capabilities across text, vision, and audio,” according to a livestream announcement by OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. It’ll be free for all users, and paid users will continue to “have up to five times the capacity limits” of free users, reports @theverge.
ChatGPT arriving on the Mac in new desktop app from OpenAI ahead of WWDC
"Ahead of that partnership, OpenAI has announced its own first-party ChatGPT app coming to the Mac. The app is designed to make ChatGPT more easily accessible and perpetually available for users."
The OpenAI ChatGPT Spring Update event starts at 18:00 UK time. Twelve minutes from now. Live stream at https://openai.com/index/spring-update/. It's currently live with holding music and visuals.
OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, is said to be considering entering the online search market, which could potentially compete with Google. Their new search product, powered by AI, might be revealed as soon as next week, just a day before Google I/O.
I think people underestimate what the impact will be of an AI companion, at the current GPT4 level , that you can talk with without a lag of several seconds, that you can personalise, that has memory etc. GPT5 isn't necessary to change the landscape and impact of AI. #AI#ChatGPT#Chatbot
OpenAI closed the deal with Apple, the next Siri will probably be powered by OpenAI. Not a coincidence i think the deal was closed before the pressconference from OpenAI today about it's product updates.
Also Google I/O is tomorrow, it's a busy week for AI. #Apple#OpenAI#Siri#ChatGPT#AI
In the 1970s, science fiction writer JG Ballard was intrigued by the growing capabilities of computers – so used one to compose poems. They were a first step on the road to ChatGPT.
Eine sehr gute Toot-Reihe von @bkastl über das kommerzielle Ausnutzen der kostenlosen Inputs von User*innen auf Stack Overflow über ChatGPT von OpenAI:
"The decision came after the executives Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea spent weeks testing ChatGPT. The product’s use of generative artificial intelligence, which can write poetry, create computer code and answer complex questions, made Siri look antiquated"
Amazing to me that it took 3 wks of ChatGPT to convince Apple that Siri was "antiquated".
Whole bunch of folks have been screaming this from the rooftops for years. 😐
#OpenAI#ChatGPT#Copyright#IP#Reddit: "OpenAI, a company that has indiscriminately scraped the internet and vast amounts of knowledge and creative works created by humans to build a company valued at roughly $80 billion, has made what Reddit described as a copyright complaint against the ChatGPT subreddit because it uses OpenAI’s logo.
Moderators of the subreddit posted a screenshot of a message that they said they had received from Reddit. The message reads “Hello Mods, We have received a copyright complaint from openai.com alleging unauthorized use of their copyrighted logos in r/ChatGPT. The 'subreddit profile image' does make use of the copyrighted content, which can lead to user confusion: please address the unauthorized copyrighted elements by May 16.” The message goes on to say that the moderators need to remove the OpenAI logo from the subreddit profile and reply to Reddit confirming that the logo has been removed." https://www.404media.co/openai-files-copyright-claim-against-chatgpt-subreddit/
#StackOverflow bans users en masse for rebelling against #OpenAI partnership — users banned for deleting answers to prevent them being used to train #ChatGPT
"Consumer AI is just the new search" anecdote: [1/3]
Casual non-techy coworkers yesterday were talking about using excel reports to analyze data & turns out two of the people use #ChatGPT to know how to do something in excel.
So, before this #AI stuff, if you were like, "how do I do X in Excel" in google, you'd get a bunch of hits and then have to wade through the results to see which link was actually what you were looking for, then test out if their solution works.
"Consumer AI is just the new search" anecdote: [2/3]
Now, you do the same thing, but in #ChatGPT, even just upload a photo of what you are trying to do, and instead of a bunch of dubious links, you get an answer that probably works. That probability is just as good as the probability after combing through search results yourself, but without the combing.
"Consumer AI is just the new search" anecdote: [3/3]
There are over 1 billion websites with over 30 billion web pages out there on the internet and regular search absolutely sucks now. It's no wonder normies are seeing #ChatGPT as magic when it can take 30 billion+ results and give you one answer that's most likely what you are looking for.
