This paper is really important, presenting empirical evidence of the imbrication bet. AI & the surveillance biz model. This is notable particularly given that most production surveillance tech is proprietary, its existence and use hidden from the public.

Amazon is bringing generative AI/LLM to its Alexa voice service, with a new preview coming to all existing Echo devices including the original 2014 model. Amazon is promising a more conversational tone with more "personality." #Alexa #Amazon #AmazonEcho #LLM #GenerativeAI

PSA: for about $50, you can buy a Wi-Fi water sensor (also senses temp and humidity) from Moen. I put them under my sinks and near my water heater, washing machine, and furnace/AC.

I did the same at my beach place and just got an alert of a leak, but I’m 400 miles away. So I called a maintenance person and sure enough, my AC unit is dumping water on the floor. On the 8th floor.

That little $50 puck just saved me and the people below me thousands.

@jerry I have several water, temp, and motion sensors around the house. Some link to #SmartThings, others to #amazonecho

The amount of peace I get from knowing that I get alerts about motion and water when I'm away is almost immeasurable.
