1. Took a chance on the rain to walk the dog and the moment we got home the downpour resumed, literally bucketed down—and missed us
2. Tidied the fridge and found everything for soup
3. Searched everywhere and picked up a punnet of late sweet pea seedlings and they’re in. Their long water seeking roots know what to do.

1. Spent most of the day outside in the sun-sun-sunshine. Tomorrow’s forecast is 100% rain, likely an inch.
2. Thanked & encouraged all the rose bushes with a fertilizer treat. The first bloom is ending, but most will bloom again until Thanksgiving.
3. NC son filled his new pool for the first time (yay), and vagabond son & DIL began their tour of Utah’s national parks at Zion.

Red rose root stock gone wild along along a fence with multiple blooms wrapped around branches of a crape myrtle tree & filling a corner, interspersed with greenery.

Thursday, May 2 🌺

1. Two hours of patio sun bliss while Angela, the Good Fairy, cleaned my house, including fresh sheets.
2. NC son & DIL have been in Cabo San Lucas on a free vacation & made it home safely. (Pic below. All other pics have been of lavish food & drinks 😄)
3. I forgot to eat dinner last night so tonight is Mexican stuffed pepper night. In the air fryer as I type. 🫑🇲🇽

1. After a couple of days of feeling puny, woke up today almost normal.
2. Wrote a “gratitude list” for daily reflection BEFORE diving into the negativity of social media, news subscriptions, political & cultural realities. (So much of my personal life is just as I wish it - but crises get the attention & angst. This helps!)
3. Good food day - egg salad for brunch, Mexican stuffed peppers for dinner. 😊

Catching Up Tuesday, April 30🌸

1. Brief but very fun visit with visiting vagabond son & DIL. He photographed the rose below at a popular Sacramento rose garden.
2. Bought & potted petunias to add color & keep the bonsai forest happy. Pomegranate bonsai is already budding.
3. Big, fat bumblebee & yellow butterfly inspecting the star jasmine that bloomed overnight. (I have about 200 sq ft of jasmine…May is a heavenly-scented month.)

1. My husband's mass was benign. This is news from yesterday, but it's still sinking in today.

2. Today was our best post-surgery day yet. Better sleep, better eating, better mood, helped in no small part by (1).

1. Even though it’s buried amid overgrown crape myrtles & oleanders, “Ingrid Bergman” rose climbed 15 feet to flash brilliant red beacons. (Below)
2. Creamy mushroom, chicken & wild rice soup for dinner last night in 20 minutes. (Bear Creek packaged soup mix, plus.)
3. Last day (!) of rain for at least a week, temps rising tomorrow.

2. Lunch with my daughter, followed by a writing session to help her overcome writer's block.
3. Finally got around to throw all our glasses into the ultrasonic cleaner. Eyesight restored!

1. I have never been so excited to do laundry. Got my first NEW washer and dryer today at age 44.

2. Talked to my Mom for 5-1/2 hours. Crazy but we window shopped and planned for her visit in a week. 1,800 miles of separation.

3. Hung out with my neighbors and am going to have purpose making food someone who just had ACL surgery today.

Monday, April 22 * Earth Day🌎

1. Grateful for having lived in Nevada (Desert! Sierra! Snow!) and California (Ocean! Hills & mountains! Agricultural fields! Rivers! Redwoods!). Miss the coast but happy to live in sunshine.

2. Grateful for all living creatures which call Earth home, especially birds, & most especially seabirds (Pelicans! Albatrosses!)

3. Grateful for this little plot of land and comfortable house, in this county & state, in this hemisphere, on this amazing, precious planet. #EarthDay2024

Last night I went to see Ex-Kraftwerk Wolfgang Flür perform. Peter Duggal was his warm up act. It was an amazing night with friends.

I stepped more than three times my daily step goal last night dancing!

I brought Wolfgang's Machine one album today and Peter's CD last night. The merchandise stand was cash only so I didn't have enough to get Wolfgang to sign one of his albums or t-shirts 😪

1. Another sunny, beautiful day in NorCal with just the perfect light breeze. Forecast is for more of the same.
2. Making Mexican stuffed bell peppers in the air fryer tonight - 21 minutes total. Yum.
3. Rebel root stock from a hybrid tea rose is blooming like crazy — wayward branches wrap around a fence corner & spread 15 feet, plus climbing two crape myrtle trees.
