Ministry of Imagination Manifesto released as the world goes to the polls

"This year, 49% of the world goes to the polls in 64 countries. As Time magazine puts it, “2024 is not just AN election year. It’s perhaps THE election year”. The outcomes of these elections will hugely shape the world & our future, most importantly of all is the US Presidential election which could see Donald Trump returned as President, which would unleash what The Economist recently described as “the biggest danger to the world”. In most cases, voters are being asked to choose between deeply unimaginative manifestos, all firmly wedded to a business-as-usual economic model that is clearly & dangerously failing around the world...
A friend of mine told me about a visit to a lab where some scientists had been experimenting with cloning and whatnot, and they went into this area with a bunch of headless frogs lying on their backs attached to probes and wires. When asked what they were doing, the answer was one word - "practicing".

In a world where ChatGPT & AI is making it increasingly easy to write lengthy, eloquent - but often empty - paragraphs, I can't help but wonder if we'll start to increasingly value finely-tuned, succinct lists that prioritize information & discard the 'fluff'.

If you are interested in #TheFuture of the #Sounders tonight has two games of interest.
Ballard is in the USL-2 (amateur) 'ship at 7p. They are starting four former Sounders Academy players.
Defiance is at Timbers2 at 7:30p. They are starting six first team players and ten of the XI have at least one appearance with the first team this season.
Cole Wagner is just one pro-life activist who has been arrested for sexual contact with a minor. This should not reflect on other conservative activists. Same with all the people #LibsOfTikTok highlights in order to shit on lefties.
#GreatAlbums1990s - #LeonardCohen - #TheFuture (1992). LC waxed political and prophetic on tracks like "The Future," "Democracy" and "Closing Time," reflecting on the fall of the Berlin Wall and the LA riots with equally ominous candor. The lovely "Anthem" preserves the Canadian icon's romantic side, while the music here rocks (or at least "rocks") better than the pallid synthpop framing his songs back in the 80s.
Another article -- this one from 2009. I remember this one. I've been into sci-fi and stuff for a lot of years (the Terminator stuff in this article, Philip K Dick stuff, etc), but I've never wanted to obsess with it or have it make me paranoid or doomy. I even had to back off on a lot of it, other than Star Trek, etc, because it IS so dark, and no sci-fi will ever perfectly predict anything. But this article from 14 years ago is interesting. This kind of talk has been going around for a lot of years and again, NOBODY knows how all of this is gonna end up. And that's what's so weird about it. Anyway. It does amuse me that I wanted to change what was displayed on my light switch, so I had to edit a config file and redeploy a container... the future is weird. #homeassistant#homeautomation
