Looks like #MOHELA has increased my payment over 10x, removed me from the SAVE/IDR program, added some 3 years to my PSLF requirement, and I've now been on hold for 30 minutes trying to get any sort of answer for the why for any of it.
Now crossing the 45 minute on-hold mark. I have yet to talk to a human and it's a miracle in and of itself that I survived their updated phone tree to get into the line.

There's multiple generations who now have had to come to terms with the fact that we're going to take our #studentloans with us to the grave and without a deed to any house along the way. This was not the opportunity that what was promised to us by our parents, teachers, mentors, and politicians when we were all in high school.
Called the #DepEd today about my #studentloans again, and the person I talked to "helpfully" transferred me to a message saying the office was now closed 🤦♂️ . They apparently close at 6PM Eastern time on Friday (it's only 3PM in California) and I had called just before then, so this was a convenient way for me to be someone else's problem for another day for whoever answered. This is so utterly exhausting.
When you finally get ahold of a #studentloans servicer and this is how they are and are completely unable to understand, much less do anything, about the paperwork you filed over a year ago that still hasn't been processed.
Words simply cannot express just how bad the #studentloans management and processing are being handled. Between the Department of Education, MOHELA, and AidVantage, paperwork is constantly lost, misapplied, or just not acted on. When you contact agencies, they send you lengthy letters in the mail ignoring your actual issues. It's a complete mess.
Prediction: Gen Z will take their expensive educations and run to countries who want their skills. No reason to stay in a country where the deck is stacked in favor of the old. No reason for the Zs to pay back student loans and pay taxes to keep their parents and grandparents lavishly retired in houses that #genz can't afford. Nobody is staying around to inherit a storage space full of precious #boomer plastic crap from #walmart. We have left no legacy of worth. #studentloans#academicmastodon
I think the sole and only reason there hasn't been a complete mass revolt against Biden over #studentloans is because Betsy DeVos set the bar so low, but make no mistake - things aren't going well for most borrowers right now.
