Another #dday tribute, this one to CBS correspondent Larry LeSueur, who had volunteered to go ashore with the allied invasion troops. He talked about his experiences 40 years later. The National Press Club has posted the audio.
A #dday tribute to my late friend, CBS correspondent Richard C. Hottelet. Here’s his radio report, filed after flying over the invasion beaches in a bouncing, low-flying bomber. He was met back in the studio by Ed Murrow, who had brought along a bucket in case Dick had to throw up.
He didn’t have to use it.
Also: a photo of Eisenhower’s order, authorizing Dick to cover the landings and their aftermath.
