Carry on Camping (Gerald Thomas, 1969). Very much bang in the middle of the golden age of the Carry On cycle, this saucy seaside postcard of a movie was, back in the day, something of a Bank Holiday staple. With so many of the sixties and seventies British saucy comedy now getting the HD treatment, attention really needs to turn to this import part of lowbrow British popular culture.
The Video Game History Foundation and the Software Preservation Network conducted the first ever study on the commercial availability of classic video games, and the results are bleak.
More than half (87%) of classic video games released in the United States are critically endangered -- unfindable and unplayable.
"Just 13% of video game history is being represented in the current marketplace. In fact, no period of video game history defined in this study even cracked 20% representation."
This is pretty messed up. The study just backs up what advocates of physical media have been saying for years.
I'm normally a big physical media ownership person, but today I sold my copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which I still play every morning while I have my coffee, and re-bought it digitally so I wouldn't have to keep swapping it out for whatever game I was otherwise playing on my lunch break at work/during chill time before bed. The Switch cartridge slot is just too fiddly to deal with that. #NintendoSwitch#ACNH#PhysicalMedia
In today's "be sure to own actual digital or physical copies of your stuff" news, Sony claims it's offering subs "appropriate value" for deleting their digital libraries.
NEVER rely on companies to keep stuff. They do NOT care, and your stuff will be gone.
You gotta do it yourself.
Grab it and put it on your computer or a thumb drive.
My #DiabolikDVD order came in today!
So happy- I got all of these at GREAT prices during their Clearance sale and I had none of them on Blu-ray. It's going to be whole new experiences watching them! 😍
"The CEO of Spotify thinks music is made for free and is his to sell, promoted as ‘content’. Please always try to buy records (‘vinyl’), cds, T-Shirts and go to gigs where you can afford to support bands you love."
This is what I’m saying! “As is pretty much always the case in these situations, it’s the enthusiasts who truly value variety and eclecticism who will miss out, as they are cast aside in an appeal to the masses who consume whatever the media giants tell them to consume.”

Despite The Vinyl Hype, CDs Remain King Of Physical Media In The UK
They continue to outsell vinyl significantly.
Just ordered season 1 of #TheExpanse on blu-ray. I've always heard it's good, and based on another persons glowing recommendation, I decided to finally check it out. Looking forward to it arriving hopefully Friday, or after the weekend. 😀 #scifi#sciencefiction#physicalmedia
The Apocalypse Tetralogy marks my first Vinegar Syndrome purchase. Polish dystopic sci-fi sounds like a good time to me, and the trailer and descriptions sound promising.
The other three from Criterion Collection are movies I've already seen and greatly enjoy. Two black comedies (Brazil, Dr. Strangelove) and a fantastic thriller. (Blow Out)
This afternoon I watched the #documentary Hot Type: 150 Years of The Nation (2015), directed by Barbara Kopple, which oddly doesn't have a Wikipedia entry. But you can read about it. It was mostly filmed during the 2012-13 election season so it feels like a historical oddity now. Like, Romney specifically doesn't seem like "the worst" of America, nor does Obama seem like "the best." Our value system has been reoriented. Will The Nation be able to keep pace with that?
Now #watching Suburban Wildlife (2019) directed by Imogen McCluskey. It's an Australian #film about four friends coming of age after college. Specifically about their coming to grips with one of their members moving away.
I have a couple more teed up but I won't tell you what they are until I'm further along. I might end up skipping the last one.
I think that we are less than 5 years away from a major studio stopping all physical releases of their productions. Disney shelving physical media in Australia is just the beginning. The era of media ownership is ending. #dvd#bluray#physicalmedia
