An interesting new feature that I've only just noticed has been added to @MonaApp:
Adding an image from your Photos library to which you have already added a Caption (in Photos) automatically adds that caption as your image description/alt-text in Mona.
The video shows this in action (nb the centre bit where I locate the photo has been edited to remove personal content).
Listen. Just for those Apple app authors crowing about how exciting #iOS17 is and how they’re starting to code for that. Even #iOS16. Just understand that iPad Air 2’s, and god knows how many other “legacy” devices that actually still work perfectly fine, CANNOT be updated beyond 15.7.9. I have my Air 2 open and on a stand with #Trello right now, and THANKFULLY #MonaApp also still runs on it as do many of the other apps I use. But please, PLEASE - especially if your app just does text or checkboxes or notifications, right - because you’ve been able to manipulate that stuff since iOS1 or so - PLEASE don’t make your app depend on minimum iOS16 or 17. Mona didn’t. Follow their lead.
People on older devices don’t give a toss “what percentage of Apple users as a whole are using iOSx”. Believe it. The Air2 works fine, as does my iPhone13 Pro on 15.4.1.

Featuring very dark desaturated blue background, white text colour, vivid yellow for accent and usernames, bright red (folly) for links, soft cyan - lime green for hashtags.
@MonaApp could definitely use the ability to add multiple threads to a post before actually posting the post on Mastodon. Or maybe I’m overlooking that setting…
Switching to a new server has forced me to investigate the #MonaApp for Mastodon in even more detail. It really is superb. Fully accessible with Voiceover and with a huge range of customisable options. Compared to when I set up my first account, Mona made it so easy to update my profile, upload profile pics and customise my settings.
I’d recommend this app to anyone, not just the visually impaired. Far & away the best Mastodon 3rd Party app I’ve used. @MonaApp #A11Y
And a dark variation called Bomb Pop. Again, maybe it’s summer on my mind. Mostly darkened the background and honed the number of colors throughout. #MonaAppTheme#MonaApp
I generally like @MonaApp, but the alt text input is in obvious need of a redesign (on iOS). It hides the image, the window is unnecessarily small. Also text recognition from images would be super helpful, this was something Metatext did well. #MonaApp#A11y
This is based on my Pastelodon theme. So much so, I almost called it variant 2. But for some reason, I liked Watermelon. Maybe it’s because it’s summer. #MonaAppTheme#MonaApp
When I add #captions to my photos in the #apple#iPhone gallery (subtitle), you automatically pick them up when I post them on #Mastodon and I love that. 😍
Secondo me quella di Mona decisamente più comprensibile. In Icecubes (e anche altri client) i post perdono il contesto, sono visualizzati solo in ordine cronologico
@paninid I’ve taken to muting for 30 days and changing their user color to red in #MonaApp. I figure if I spot a “Red User” and then they keep going with what led me to mute them, then I block them. Unless they are deeply unpleasant human beings, then I block instantly. I love how mute and block make my timeline immediately shift and shrink. It's a deeply pleasant experience.
@MonaApp is just getting better!
The sever tab (to add a list of instances) became explore, where you can look through trending hashtags, find similar accounts to that you follow or see news that are shared at the moment. #MonaApp#Mastodon
Thanks for the update @MonaApp.
What I need is a character next to the timestamp in the top right if the post is a reply. I also use Bluesky via skybridge in your app. As it is now it is not clear whether it's a post or a reply.
Thank you. #mona#monaapp
