Show off your #cargoBikes! Answer questions on hauling kids & large loads #CarryShitOlympics#eBikes
Going car-free for #EarthDay shouldn't be a difficult challenge for anyone. Nobody should be forced to drive to meet their daily needs. If you can't #LeaveTheCarAtHome due to your govt's misplaced priorities in #transportation spending, call your mayor and governor about it. It's not just land use and #parking policy that keeps people driving, it's the billions we spend maintaining deadly #stroads.
It's so nice to be able to pull over and take a quick photo when see your matching cargo hauler on the side of the road! Another reason to #LeaveTheCarAtHome
#WinterBike friends -- how do your kids keep their legs warm on the #BikeToSchool?
My 4th grader is riding her own bike now so a blanket is no longer an option.
Also taking recommendations for handlebar mitts for small people.
"In 2021, half of all trips in the United States were less than three miles, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Making those short trips on an e-bike instead of in a car would likely save people money, cut their emissions, and improve their health and happiness."
@TheWarOnCars I have 9000 miles on the edgerunner and maybe half that again between the other bikes without odometers, so maybe 1500 bike miles per year displaced 3x that, around 4500 annual car miles, from our lives and budgets, so much money, less stress in traffic, better health, I just can't even spend enough money on #eBikes to break even. #cargoBikes#LeaveTheCarAtHome#eBikesChangeLives#BikeTooter
We spend all of this time talking about how people are afraid to ride bikes & then the commissioner of transportation goes out & blows a hole in the barely existent low-stress network to get some political gas from the hoteliers. Does that inspire the confidence you need to #leaveTheCarAtHome? Does it make you feel like people on #pdxBikes have equal status with drivers, or at least with their luggage? Mapps got here a little late to be mayor of old #Portland, I hope.
The car #traffic that came into view as I crested a hill on my morning commute was a sharp contrast to the surroundings of the pleasant #greenway I had been on.
#Cars--and the way we bend over backwards to cater to them--really do ruin everything.
This morning's #BikeToSchool started out a little prickly, but it's hard to stay mad when you're riding a #bicycle. And if there's any angst leftover by the time you get to school, you can hug it out at the #bike rack.
