My brain decided to bring up this memory for no reason today. Cereal box records. Back in the day, kid cereals would add cardboard records on the back of their boxes. You could cut them out and play them on any normal record player. The grooves were made with thin plastic and songs were pretty short.
Who else learned how to drive like this? Just reacting to a projector playing a video of someone else driving. I believe it was generously called a "simulator"
Kiddo was complaining about difficulties #dating and meeting people in this era and that #GenX had it way easier. She bemoaned playing the dating app game; told me how much harder it is for #GenZ.
So, I told her about Personals Ads and how you’d get a bunch of letters with or without photos in response to your ad and you’d then have to respond with a letter or a phone call to those you wanted to meet. It took time to get a date that way!
She decided our analog dating program was much worse. 😏
I only found out today, that Steve Harley had passed away in mid March. I absolutely adore his track - Make Me Smile. I played it & sang along to it, often 🎵❤️🎶
One of my Uncles just dropped off a 2 piece, waterproof outfit for me. My Mom had told him that I'd joined the para-dragonboating pilot program & he was very happy to hear that. He took it upon himself to go out & get me new clothes that I can wear for my paddling practices. He's so funny - the outfit is all metallic silver - so he can spot me quickly from afar 🤣
I'm going look like a walking disco ball wearing it 😂 I will wear at least once, just for my supportive Uncle👍
Crash landing ungracefully into your #podcast feed is another episode of Hot For Teacher: A Greatest American Hero Watch Party, featuring @hotdogitsclaire and @todb as they talk about old TV and other things only #GenX#80sKids like. Give it a listen!
Know any trivia about the next episode of #TGAH, "Saturday on Sunset Boulevard?" You have plenty of time to share it and mayhaps we'll cite you in the next ep!
