It's strange how it seems many I follow in the tootiverse are at #FOSSY, while nobody (yet?) is at #OpenSauce - I guess the two have a bit different core audiences.
We're seeking proposals from prospective speakers, covering a wide range of topics: community management, program management, contributor experience, governance, sustainability, succession planning, you name it!
By chance does anyone have a link to a recording of the #enterprise#Linux panel from #FOSSY today? I'm very interested to watch it, but sadly couldn't make it to the conference this time.
You've got until May 18 to submit a paper for FOSSY! Yay! That means more time to draft and brainstorm - and the 'Community: Open Source in Practice' team would love to help.
Join me, @josh and @alpacaherder this Friday, May 12 at 12:00 Pacific/15:00 Eastern/19:00 UTC on Jitsy (thanks, @conservancy !). For at least one hour, maybe two, we'll offer advice and feedback in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
I don't envy those #FOSSY attendees who had to return to work today; I have absolutely crashed after the 3.5 days of socialising, paying attention to interesting and intellectually stimulating talks, and (perhaps quite significantly) cycling 35 minutes each way to the venue! 😴
What an honor! I'm thrilled to share that I'm a speaker at the first ever #FOSSY by @conservancy this July in Portland.
I'll be talking about event #HealthAndSafety policies and what the pandemic can teach us about taking our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to the next level. (Feat. the @phpledge!)
I can't wait to see the full lineup for the conference :ablobcatrave:
I just saw @linux_mclinuxface give a talk about writing for open source projects. He had many good tips for writers coming from a marketing background, like watching out for your first person plural pronouns. Also stop anthropomorphism!! Great talk, thank you!!
Coming to terms today with the fact that I was profoundly uncomfortable last week at #fossy. Not sure why. Seeing so many people I haven't seen in ~4 years gave me so much pleasure, but I felt like I was an intruder. Felt like I have changed, so much, not necessarily for the better. So the pleasure of meeting familiar people was mixed with a feeling of being out of place, and a desire to isolate. I am sorry I did not spend more time with you all.
Hi @conservancy - I'm seeing some sporadic links to #FOSSY talks being posted by folks - where can I find the definitive list? Perhaps you would consider linking the talks from the schedule pages to make it easy to find them.
Celebrating @outreachy this morning for having now provided more than 1,000 paid open source internships for underrepresented people 🥳
Grateful to @gnome and @conservancy for their role in backing this important program, and to @sphakos, @karen, and @anna for their work driving it, and to Marina Zhurakhinskaya for the legacy she has left by founding it ❤️ #FOSSY
who do I know that knows postmarketos people? I'd really like to see a libre phone track or talks ether at #fossy or #linuxappsummit - maybe invite some sugar labs people talk about grid networks etc.
What would be really really really cool is if we gave out recycled phones as comms running free software and interacted via that in a social kind of way.
