If Douglas Adams had been a woman he'd have realised he'd written complete nonsense about ballpoints ...
In fact as we all know, it's scrunchies and single earrings that mysteriously slip away to their home planets via wormholes in the space-time continuum 💫
“You don’t understand what you decide in this shack affects the lives & fates of millions of people? This is all monstrously wrong!”
“I don’t know. I’ve never met these people you speak of. & neither, I suspect, have you. They only exist in words we hear. It is folly to say you know what is happenin to other people. Only they know, if they exist. They have their own Universes of their own eyes and ears.”
#GoodMorning peeps, hope you’re all feeling groovy today 😊
Just wanna say thanks to all the VI peeps & assorted allies who helped me yesterday, I’m sure I’ll get more feedback over the next few days as well, but I’m going to try and follow thru on what I’ve learned so far.
For starters check out the all new & improved profile v 1.6
And to everyone else out there “keep banging the rocks together guys” #DouglasAdams#HitchHikersGuide 🫶🖖 (much love , live long & prosper!)
“The light works," he said, indicating the window, "the gravity works," he said, dropping a pencil on the floor. "Anything else we have to take our chances with.”
I decided to have a little bit of fun with #ChatGPT and #elevenLabs on the spur of the moment.
This is the hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy's entry on funny noises.
The late great #DouglasAdams is one of my favorite authors. I was fortunate to meet him during two of his book tours, in Evanston, IL for "Mostly Harmless" and in Berkeley, CA for "Last Chance to See".
Douglas Adams wasn't just a super hilarious and talented writer, he was also a brilliant deep thinker. I consider his Puddle Analogy to be the probably the best explanation of the Anthropic Principal ever written. Simple, witty and despite numerous attempts it's one I've yet to read a convincing rebuke of.
"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened." ~Douglas Adams (in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
In #Asterix und der Arvernerschild können auch Asterix und Obelix nicht auf ein Handtuch verzichten. Denn heute ist #TowelDay (dt. Handtuch-Tag)! Miss your kind of humour, #DouglasAdams
A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.
So to commemorate #towelday Unbound are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a towel and copy of 42: The Wildly Improbable Ideas of #DouglasAdams (to be delivered in August 2023).
Winners will be selected at random from all entries on Thursday 1st June. Unbound are the publishers of 42 and can answer any questions at support@unbound.com
