Extremely happy to finally own a #Sony#MAVICA camera, a digital camera that uses a floppy disk as storage! MVC-FD90
And yes, that is in fact the floppy disk to Sony Memory Stick adapter, which came free with this flea-market find; but I feel like using it is cheating a bit, especially if you have a Memory Stick to Memory Stick Duo adapter (insert Xhibit Yo Dawg meme).
A while ago I saw a gallery/image host project only allowing submissions of photos taken with older and /or lower megapixel cameras; point and shoots common folks would use.
Does anyone remember this? I cannot find it in my Mastodon archives. Thank you!
It used to be pretty simple. Lower number, higher quality. Single digit, higher quality.
1D - The best FF
5D - Nearly the best FF
6D - Lightweight FF
7D - Prosumer APS-C
Sticking a 0 on the end indicated lower build quality, fewer features, etc. (but still excellent cameras) in the consumer space with the same lower=better sequence.
Then things got weird with the 60D and 70D. I think they were trying to move the prosumer gear out of the high-end line, but things ended up confusing.
And now? R, R3, R5, R6, R7, R8, RP ... R10, R50, R100.
There's a hint of the lower=better numbering, but there's also a strong sense in reviews that, for example, the R6ii is the very best camera for x application and you don't want an R3 or R5 because of their inferior features for that application. I literally have no idea where I would start with the R-series if I wanted to switch from my ancient 5D.
Sure. A Sony is expensive if you just do BASIC phone things with it, but that really isn't the point of an XPERIA is it?
Taking a quick tour through the External Monitor mode, it's crazy to think how little we're really tapping into the amazing compute power of our phones...
On the ride in to work this morning, I spotted a small black camera on a pole at the roadside. It wasabout the size of a DSLR but with the lens flush to the body, barely wider than the pole, clearly designed to be missed.
Can someone give me some advice on making an IR #camera with #raspberrypi ? Was thinking about buying a NoIR camera module 3 and an IR flashlight for a cheap lowlight/night camera, using my phone to control the camera.
I haven't used the cam module 3 so need some advice with that if possible.
J'ai des cartons un poil plus précieux que les autres. Autant dire que celui là, il va pas me quitter et qu'il devrait faire un paquet d'aller retour avant et pendant mon déménagement...

A bit of fun news today, I ordered a new camera last night. It's an old model, a Nikon D7500, but it is brand new, and I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it.
My first DSLR was a D50. I now carry two D3100 SLRs with me when I'm out shooting. This new camera will be the first one I've owned that wasn't near the bottom of Nikon's more economical line of SLRs.
I will probably never own the latest, greatest thing, so I get excited when I can splurge a little.
#camera and #photography folks: my bf has expressed interest in an instant/polaroid-like camera and I've poked around a bit and am overwhelmed by choice. He just wants something fun and easy. Any recommendations?
(on holiday)
before we left i found this old digital camera in a shoebox in my cupboard, and miraculously enough it had batteries and a charger
so i've been taking some photos with it on the beach. but we don't have a CF reader so i can't read them onto my laptop or free space on the card for more photos (used ~.6GB in one day D:)
anyways. it's a cool camera.
I'm in the market for a really good quality outdoor camera, that is battery operated and wireless.
We want to put it on the side of house in the back so we can monitor things, mostly just to see what kind of wild animals come around the house during the night while we sleep.
I don't want something crazy expensive, but don't really want cheap either. Something that can store a few days worth of video or even cloud options.
The sensors and optics on a good Pro or Ultra phone are demonstrably better than these old cameras. The hardware is there, so what are phone manufacturers getting wrong with mobile photo processing?
Looking for a camera #recommendation for my teenaged son. It will be his first serious camera and I’d like it to last him a while. He wants one that supports additional lenses. Can someone recommend one that won’t break the bank? #camera#photography

I'm not blowing anyone's minds here. Oppo delivered a MONSTER photography option this year. https://www.patreon.com/posts/93474308?utm_campaign=postshare_creator
After updates and patches, the Find X6 Pro is a beautifully polished mobile content creation solution.
What's interesting, we're starting to get a look at next year's phones.
A major focus for phones next year is AI, and camera sensors are likely going to shrink on many premium priced options.
More so than in the last couple years, shopping a year old "ultra" phone is going to be an even more competitive choice against a current year "pro" phone.
Let's take a look!
Hey, je pense que j'arrive au moment où je voudrais un reflex qui filme mieux que les premiers prix, mais qui coûte pas un smic. Des conseils ? Voir mieux, est-ce que vous en vendez un vous-même sur Paris/alentours ?
Merchi ! #camera#photo#reflex
