Austro–Węgry. Czechosłowacja. Protektorat Moraw. Czechosłowacja, znowu. Czechy. Nie sposób opisać społeczeństwa, naznaczonego taką historią i przejściami. No chyba, że…
Current reading is this anthology of Jimi Hendrix writings, interviews, letters, and lyrics, presented chronologically in lieu of an autobiography, and largely it's working so far, about 40% in. Jimi comes across as the all-round good egg you'd expect, and his rise seems to define overnight success - from band formation to the Monterey Festival in under 9 months. He was also clearly someone who took popular music seriously, both his contemporaries and his predecessors, and his insights on other acts are frequently insightful. 📖 #books#bookstodon@bookstodon

I know you by heart, and yet —
I don't know you — discovering anew every time
hair — by my lips, lips — by my tongue —
and moving within you, I learn your pupils
contracting in an unfamiliar way...
every fibre of me wants to know every fibre of you
is it as joyous and thankful for you as it is for me
becoming you and collapsing —
that's what the Bible meant: he knew her!
Just finished reading ‘Babel, or the Necessity of Violence’ by R.F. Kuang. Words can’t express how much I loved this book. The best story I’ve read in a very long time 10/10 @bookstodon#books#bookstodon
Summer is Here is a beautiful and colorful picture book sharing all the wonderful things that are enjoyed during the summer, such as bubbles, fruits or pool. The art is truly mesmerizing and so incredible ! It is a great book to be enjoyed as a family while sharing happy memories of past summers and create new ones.
Kto zna książki Marty Kisiel ten wie, czego mniej więcej się spodziewać - dużo humoru, plastycznego języka, "wybuchowych" stylistycznie zdań i... osadzenie kryminału nieco w tyle. Taki urok komedii kryminalnych - ta jest bardzo dobra i zabawna, choć nie ustrzegła się wad.
Emma, by Jane Austen.
You are but one and twenty, a gentleman’s daughter, but fixed on never marrying so that you may care for your hypochondriac father; this, however, does not dissuade you from the disastrous matchmaking you attempt for others, which goes wildly awry, embroiling yourself even, though you are always sensible to the distinction of rank.

What's better for the environment: A paper book, or an e-reader? NPR spoke to industry experts about the rise of digital reading, how the publishing industry is reducing waste, and whether using a fossil-fuel-derived plastic e-reader is a better option than a paper book. The short answer, according to professor Mike Berners-Lee (yes, he is Tim's brother): It depends.

Got the new Valancourt reprint of “In A Lonely Place” for my birthday. Pretty curious about this. I’ve read all KEW’s sword & sorcery Kane stories, but very few of his straight horror stories.
In my new fantasy book, I'm going to forego describing my MC. The reader will get a picture of his age and status within society, and an impression of his clothing, nothing else. This will allow the reader to picture him more or less however they want. Support characters will be thoroughly described.
So the question is: how much would readers find an undescribed MC off-putting? Not that the answers will change my plans, I'm just curious.
“So did these come and go, [...] so think, as I think, of the gap that they would make in this domain when they were gone; so find it, as I find it, difficult to believe that it could be, without them; so pass from my world, as I pass from theirs, now closing the reverberating door; so leave no blank to miss them, and so die.”
