This is possible, and with protecting #wilderness as well. It requires agricultural "#intensification"; applying modern techniques, equipment, and biology to farming.
There's a good #discussion of how this can be done, and has been done in various other places, to save wildernesses, improve standards of living, and reduce #hunger, in a very good #book - "Apocalypse Never" (2020), by Michael Shellenberger.
In 1905, she became the second female Nobel laureate (after Marie Curie in 1903), the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and the first Austrian laureate.

If I had the chance to travel through time and meet famous people, she would be definitely on my list. As long as that's not possible, I will use a time machine called #book.
"Omens were always tricky and hard to interpret and mostly useless, except to point to in hindsight", said the character in a high fantasy novel (Witch King, by @marthawells)
You see, I like the Books of the Raksura and The Murderbot Diaries so much I thought any other #book by @marthawells would be underwhelming in comparison. Fortunately I was wrong! Witch King is another greatly imaginative fantasy story, with characters you care for and a world that feels like it should be real.
Cant help but think that reading books is like having a superpower. By reading you effectively tap into the brains of all these very talented, intelligent, knowledgable and experienced awesome people who decided to share what they have learned.
I almost feel as if I am cheating when I read a new book, almost like some sort of analogue matrix... Arguably somewhat slower, error prone and unreliable yet... Cheating.
To all these hard working authors, writers and knowledge workers who enable me to cheat in life.
@cstromblad And when you feel that you're done with the #learning for the time being, you can put that #book aside and pick up another only to get lost in any of millions of fantastical worlds where swordfights, spaceflight, supernatural creatures and/or perfectly ordinary people solving criminal mysteries that have had the best of law enforcement stumped for years is commonplace. Just to name a few of the possibilities.
Just think of all that #writers are willing to bring to your fingertips.
I accidentally posted something under my 2022 #book thread but it's time to live in the future! So this is officially the beginning of my 2023 book thread!
The Age of Wonder: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes #book#booktodon
I should not be surprised that the existence (and membership) of the 'mile high club' has been an obsession of tabloids since the literal advent of hot air ballooning.
I don’t know how long I’m out. Long enough that when the world comes once more into soft-edged focus, it’s Magni and Móði I can feel looming over my shaking form.
“Hnnnrrrhhh.”
Everything hurts. Everywhere. The curse is gone, but the effects linger. In cramped muscles and healing bones, shattered from the ugly contortions my body forced itself into in its desperate and futile attempts to escape a pain coming from within.
“What did you hope to achieve by this folly?” Móði’s voice, much too close. I hiss, pulling away from it. “Did you think to hide from us in this woman’s skin?”
I don’t answer. Somewhere up above, Magni spits. “Will it live?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” A thick, gauntleted hand grabs me by the neck and hauls me upright. The movement sends new lances of agony out through my twisted limbs, and I cry out.

In Brendan Vidito's world of vivid nightmares, various hells climb out of cracks created by choices made & come out to play. Imaginative, unnerving, with some great body horror, imagery, & copious dread, the stories in PORNOGRAPHY FOR THE END OF THE WORLD nimbly disturb & unnerve. (From Weirdpunk Books)
