@alexandra We skipped all the middle men, and got the tickets straight from Turkish. Brother-in-law got burned this summer with one of those. Also, prices are much cheaper this way. They were offering money back on some destinations already (because of war), but our tickets were not in that time window. And then the flight got delayed 😅😂

It was, in some ways, really amusing. We were in a 6-berth couchette with our two large rucksacks high up. Polizei demanded I get them down, I said no as I'd not be able to get them back up, so they started taking everything out one item at a time. Thing was, we had nothing untoward. No alcohol, no tobacco, no drugs, which just got them more and more annoyed! Eventually their boss came along and told them to let us and the train (now really late) go, or take us off and be really sure about charging us. He realised he'd lost.
(This wasn't the only run-in with them but the other time was way more fun.)
