I just encountered a new band called Bird’s View. Nice mix of Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age and Audioslave and other stuff thrown in.
So new that they don’t even have a website of their own yet. Like Boskat (which I mentioned recently), only a presence on Facebook, which will hopefully change soon.
And I have a new goal: Be able to play the drumming from Jarloseppa.
Hey there Fedifolks! Everyone got their #2024goals locked down or is it not a thing for you? Personally, the end of each quarter is review and adjust time so priorities get sorted and new objectives can get on there as part of that process flow. I do take this time of year to look at my 3 year goals though and assess the progress on those and add the new Year 3 goals to that stack to provide the updated “North Star” for directionality.
Let's get this over with. I stopped making new year resolutions many years ago, because most of them were shot by the end of January. Now I make a list of achievable goals. That said, here goes:
I will not eat beets...
...or pickled herring...
...or jellied eels.
I will not let my weight get over 400 lbs
I will not enter the Tour de France
I will not win the Daytona 500
I will donate some books to the Little Free Library across the street from my office
As it’s just over 6 hours until 2024 (CST time zone here), let’s see what everyone’s New Year’s Resolutions are?
For me, I’m wanting to continue to be the best person, friend, dad that I can be. I also want to continue to learn the most I can in the tech industry, something that never stops, that will help me in my career for the long term.

Here is the #earlymodern German pamphlet reporting about such a sausage celebration on New Year's Day 1601: "Warhafftige Beschreibung der langen Bratwurst ... Welcher im anfang des Newen Jahres Anno 1601. ... umbgetragen und geschawet worden".
