"Technicians at work on Bridge" -- On the set of Star Trek, ca. 1968. Photo first published in the book The Making of Star Trek by Stephen Whitfield (1968).
Louie, Louie by Kingsmen b/w Twist And Shout by The Isley Brothers (1981)
Here we have an odd pairing on Eric Records (manufactured by CBS). These bands originally had hits with these songs in the early 1960s. Here they’re on the same 45.
I have an original pressing of Louie, Louie from 1963 that will make an appearance here soon.
A photo of mine from the late 1960s, taken from Godley Branch Road looking down on Halifax. I suspect I incorporated the tree because such things were so rare up Beacon Hill in those days. You wouldn't be able to take a similar shot today - you can't see the town for the trees! #halifaxuk#yorkshire#blackandwhite#1960s
NICK DRAKE
Five Leaves Left
2013 U.S. remastered reissue
My wife and I don’t share very much common ground when it comes to music.
However, Nick Drake is someone we both love and adore, and my wife and I have shared many a wonderful night together with Nick’s music as the backdrop.
Tonight, we have this and a lovely Italian dinner.
This remaster sounds wonderful. Just a wonderful sounding issue of a stunningly gorgeous album. #vinyl#vinylrecords#nickdrake#folk#1969#1960s#60smusic#60s
Okay, so the theme for #JukeboxFridayNight is #ShowOfHands / #HaveASay (political songs). I think this counts, being an anti-war protest rendition of the national anthem.
The only time I heard an electric guitar mimic bombs and guns.
Does anyone have any information on the Norwegian company Emalox of the 1960's? They produced some fabulously stylish anodised aluminium tableware designed by Bjørn Engø.
In 1968 The Rolling Stones released the last album that Brian Jones would play on, Beggars Banquet. It would also have a contreversal cover that was changed to a plain white one.
Back to some space history neepery, hmm? I've previously spoken of the 1964 World's Fair in New York City as a last gasp of 20th century techno-optimism, and this is a little bit more from it. It's art of the Hall of Science's "movie hall", showing a Martin Marietta station and spaceship. It was printed in the Souvenir Book of the fair.
