And when I see the sign
that points one way
The lot we used to pass by
every day
Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me
follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block
are not the same
You're not to blame
From deep inside
the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside
the pain that I chose to hide
Just walk away, Renée
You won't see me
follow you back home
Now, as the rain beats down
upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

In 1966 The Yardbirds released a self titled album in the UK, in the US and Europe it was called Over Under Sideways Down. Eventually the album became known by the title of the cartoon, Roger The Engineer after the drawing on the cover

When I look at the date of release for this song it amazes me that it still so relevant today. Released in 1965, Barry McGuire and Eve Of Destruction.

Not my photos. Obviously.

Fell down an internet rabbit hole and ended up here at the Vintage Pool Party group on Flickr dedicated to vintage swimming pool imagery from the 1930s to 1980s. It's mostly from 50s and 60s American motel postcards and I love this design aesthetic that includes lots of great examples of Googie architecture with its then-futuristic style.

An indoor swimming pool on a 1950s postcard. The building has a slightly tapering roof with large support beams running its length. The pool beneath is is a squared dumbbell shape, and cross the thin central area is a small curved bridge. A woman stands on it looking down into the green pool water in which a half dozen people are swimming or standing and talking.
A 1950s postcard showing a large indoor swimming pool. The flat ceiling is a blue and white checkerboard pattern. The area beneath contains a large pool, apparently not very deep as some people are standing up to their waist in water in the centre. Around the pool is a mosaic tiled surface filled with loungers, most of them occupied.
A 1950s colour postcard of a motel swimming pool. A pool, mostly square but with a pointed corner is surrounded on two sides by the three-storey motel complex. It's a bright sunny day and there are a handful of people in the water and a few around its edges on loungers but there's not a lot of space. A flat wall facing us on the left contains a large seahorse design in pink with the words "Pavilion Motor Lodge" next to it.

My friends all tell me
Go to him, run to him
Say sweet lovely things to him
And tell him, he's the one
Deep in my heart I know it
But it's so hard to show it
'Cause it's easier, easier said than done
My buddies tell me
Fly to him, sigh to him
Tell him I would die for him
And tell him, he's the one
Although he gives me a feeling
That sets my heart a-reeling
Yet it's easier, easier said than done

About time we had some Soul for the Track Of The Day, and when you are talking Soul you can't go past the master, Otis Redding and here is his version of The Glory Of Love. Just love the way this builds to the climax.

We are going way back to 1960 now for a track that is pretty timeless. It certainly doesn't sound like a 1960 number. It rocks and has a garage sound to it.

1967's "The Terrornauts" was a real snoozefest of academic funding drama until we got to see the alien robot for the first time. My partner and I literally LOLed.
