@popey I eventually just gave up trying to build a snap. When I tried using the default setup, even after allowing traffic on the network interface manually, snapcraft fails to install snapd in the LXC container. I checked and I can access the Ubuntu repos, but not the snap store. Switching to using multipass gave me even worse results. VMs spawn using multipass have no network access even after manually granting access on the firewall. I'm probably missing some of the magic snap does on Ubuntu.
@jadolg I often leverage the launchpad build farm when I had these issues by the way. "snapcraft remote-build" is a nice way to get multiple architecture builds of stuff, using someone else's compute :D
