This town used to be a theme park based on a popular book which we'll not going to describe. We have not enough words to do it justice. After the Fall, it became one of the few spots of civilization. Theme parks around the world served that purpose. They turned out to be better built than luxury skyscrapers. Its inhabitants got used to live there, and some even made theirs the "culture" reflected by the rides. And there's a porn-based theme park somewhere in America… #WritingPrompt

It’s been centuries, maybe even more than a thousand years since one of the Big Folk had last dwelled with us. Or even been seen! We continue to repair the old meeting places as best we can. They built these structures to last.
Today we build inside them. Because it’s easier. Better protected. Believe it or not, my ancestors stood toe-to-toe (as the saying went) with the Big Folk.
We helped design, plan and build the old places! But that knowledge was lost, like them, in the past.
Hey Mr. Blarbo! It's me, Gosh Baghead! I see you got this dwarf rune on your door that says "detective." I'm guessing you've gone into the private eyeball business and I need some detecting done. Someone is stealing the heads off my turkey-geese. You've got that ring of invisibility that everyone knows about and I was thinking you could go invisible undercover like and spend the night in my birdhouse and find out who it was. Whadaya think? Hey, you in there?

Brunel Underfoot was a Tuubit Hobbit from Little Delving in the West Farthing. Tuubit Hobbits are pigmy halflings, about two foot tall; a shush matter. Brunel inherited his Hobbit hole from his great aunt Jinxi, a full-sized Hobbit originally from Tuckborough, who married a Tuubit Hobbit named Otto Smallberry. Brunel was dismal; he had a hearth and money, but as with most diminutive Tuubit Hobbits a very low opinion of himself. It didn’t help that his headless Uruk-hai chicken chased him mercilessly around the garden.
"No, we're not going to build a square addition like some twenty-first century savages. We're alive today because our ancestors had the sense to shelter in nice, solid, round tubes.
Look at nature. See a lot of squares? Take a square tunnel and push the top sideways: it'll collapse. Think about that during the next atmospheric tsunami.
Trendy or not, we live in a sensible tube house for good reasons."
